How are the marines about dogs? I know I couldn't have one in RT but what about after that in the base's houses. I think that is clear enough to understand. I just really want a Jalerran Siberian Huskie

My best guess (Flo will know) is that once you are hitched and living in married quarters you can get yourself a dog.
However Huskies are a pretty high maintenance breed and seeing as your not going to be there for alot of the time you could be in for a long wait.
I dont think the RM have a dog unit, maybe if your that interested you could have a word with the AFCO and find out what ARMY units do, im pretty sure there must be a dog unit somewhere, or the POLICE.
Anyway if and when you get in you will have plenty of opportunity to play with dogs of another variety or gronks as they call them.

Army Website:
Army dogs play a vital role in security operations where their acute smell and hearing prove invaluable in the fight against terrorism.....Its 170 dogs are trained for specific roles including:
Arms Explosive Search Dog - trained to find firearms, explosives, hides and bomb making equipment in various environments.
Vehicle Search Dog - trained to search for firearms, explosives and bomb making equipment in all vehicles.
Tracker Dog - trained to follow a suspected terrorist after an incident or by back-tracking from an incident in order to gain information on a suspected terrorist's movements .
It could be a good idea if your really interested in working with dogs Stinky.

No problem, for future reference Huskies are working dogs, my mums cousin has a team of the little bastards that he uses for sled racing.
When there not fighting there doing there best to expand there number.
If you want a pet dog get yourself a mongrel, my old heinz 57 was a good old boy and I couldnt have asked for a better mate.
The RSPCA needs homes for unwanted pups and you could do alot worse than a cross breed.
If memory serves me right Skipper cost less than £30 and was worth a thousand pedigrees.

Jalerran Siberian Huskies are a kennel based in the US, and I know for a fact that a kennel of this type would never allow you to have one of their dogs if you have no previous experience of the breed, even if you could afford to import one from the US.
Siberian huskiesa are not an easy breed to own, that is why you will get a lot of them being advertised in the local free ads after a few months or being put into rescue kennels. They are not the type of breed that can be trained to the obedience standard of an alsatian. Yes they can be trained but as they are an intelligent breed they will do things the way they want to and not the way that you want them to, e.g. play fetch with them and they will look at you thinking 'you threw the ball, you go get it', or just run off with the ball and not come back.
Huskies are a pack dog and hate being left home alone, that is why you will find people with huskies having more than one so that they can keep themselves entertained, or you will find your house and garden totally destroyed when they get bored.
Not an easy breed to own, as you will need to give them a lot of your time.
One more thing HAIR, gets everywhere, and when a husky moults you will not belive the amount of hair that comes out of them.
Taff
There is a place near me that looks after dogs when their owners go away on holiday. But I think I am going to have to think about getting a dog some more unless I get a girl friend who dosn't mind looking after them. And a Siberian Huski does sound alot worse then it looks now. Thankyou for the info though.
Your saying you want a dog to do all these things with, but then you say your not a big dog lover?
If your not a big dog lover and want an animal, that is a living, breathing, eating, sh*tting, needing animal for purely selfish reasons- then your not suitable for one.
Do you want kids stinky? Think of a dog as a child that NEVER grows up.
