update on my progress

Post by jonno2006 »

hi guys,

its been just over a month since i failed my PRMC and just thought id post an update on how ive been doing.
for about a week or so after my PRMC my upper body scores and 3 miler time had plummeted! i could barely do 25 press ups and i was running 3 miles in 26/27mins! but since then ive started swimming 3/4 times per week and have been running 3, 6 and 10 milers. ive also been adding in alot of sprint work over the fields. i tend to do this before a 3 miler as it gets the heart rate going (simulating the 3 mile warm up down at CTC). my PB for the 3 miler now is 22.42mins. still bad, i know, but im getting there! im also doing the bleep test once a week in my back garden but im not getting very far with it as i often slip and slide in the sh*t, kindly left behind by our 3 pet ducks. lol dont ask!
as for upper body, my press ups have never been better! ive started doing them with a burgen on with a 10kg bag of sand inside and can pump out about 20. without the weight, im managing 50+. i also use the burgen for doing squats. my sit ups score is now 70 within the 2 minutes, but unfortunatley theres no change on the pull ups :(
all in all im doing alright!
cheers for taking the time to read!

Hey jonno

Keep up the good work son 8) Let us know how you are getting on.

Don't be tempted to run with that Bergan on yet with weights your knees won't like it much

Good work and good attitude as well. You appear to have taken the knock back on the chin and learned from it.

One thing I would mention is that you should keep your fitness work varied. It is important to have good routine but switching things around (even if you just do things at different times of day) every 2/4 weeks will be very beneficial. Not only will it keep your body guessing and not allow it to get used to your routine (which can cause you to reach a plateau in training where you won't improve) but it will help to prevent boredom.

I expect you've got between 3-6 months until your next PRMC so I think this will important to keep you training between now and then.

Best of luck.
Aways look on the bright side of life.

just keep training hard mate, and keep posting your scores not only will it make you work harder because you want them to look better on the post but it will give everyone else an idea as to where they are at with their training.
