where's the scrumpy!!!!
For some reason I've been led to beleive that the Raf Regiment is tougher physically and mentally to get into than the Infantry. I was close to joining them a while back but decided I wanted a tougher challenge (Iv got all the information booklets about the Reg).jsharps1965 wrote:Hello all you 'a bit better than TA but not good enough for infantry regulars' the rafreg's physical programme is as follows. wake up to a big greasy brekky, stand up out of their smelly pits and touch their toes, look at a gun and bullet, then go out as a full troop and get battered by one bootneck.
I just had to look into your forum boys to see what lies you are all telling people about military life, yer all a bunch of hair gelled poofs.
A lot of people slate the regiment. Remember these guys are out there in Afghanistan and Iraq and they deserve a little respect.
Obvisouly they arent any where near as tough as the Marines but they dont need to be.

thats right mate I have respect for all our forces srugggling out there and Iraq, lacking equi.... etc but they get on with it, they probably read my articles and have a chuckle, there has to be a bit of banter, it stays on the back of your mind its called unit pride, regimental pride, espirit de corps, it might lack a bit of political correctness at times but hey I'm not a lying scheming politician if thats how you spell it What I put down on here might give you more of an incentive to train harder and show people you are only in the reg but you're faster, stronger got a bigger willy than any marine, who knows, if you are going to join up don't get offend by my spiels, become stronger for it learn to swear in front of a mirror then do it in a shop when you buy your sweets, 'gimme a f****n mars bar NOW ' that sort of thing, any way must dash thats my hairdresser just arrived. ps what size is yer......

Mornin mike, christ ave got a crackin headache, any good posts last night, my memory seems to be a bit iffy.on a serious note, for all you lads out there thinking of joining whatever you can look up all kinds of training programmes for whatever you are thinking of doing, but make sure you eat well get all the right nutrients and proteins etc drink plenty of oggin, as the auld saying goes 'you are what you eat' you don't want to be turning up for training looking like a kebeb or a big fat burger now do you, and probably the most important is being mentaly prepared, if you have any doubts whatsoever when the going gets tough, mentaly or physicaly you will crimp, you will not get through the hard times. Its all about your attitude, when your training teams are telling you that you're useless and shite at admin and all that but you know you've done your best just think in the back of your mind 'it's only pain' 30weeks 12weeks 8weeks to go for however long it is it will come to a good end for those who stick at it. Your parents or gaurdians ain't gonna be there to sort it out for you, you have to do this on your own, and when you've finished and passed out, have a good proud look at yourself in the mirror and think, my life starts now, from this moment on I'm gonna do things for myself and the team and you won't go wrong. Her's a wee thought for you lads and lassies, before you do your phys say to yourself............."THEBODY IS EVIL' IT MUST BE PUNISHED" and give it 110 % anyway must dash I've got a proudcock fish somewhere to reel in chioq-fait-arla.

Cant agrue with Jsharps advice (jUst his opinions on rocks!
)
But he is soooo right I failed my RSc with the army because i was ill prepared you need to want it 110% and your body will too !! half of the PT aspect of things is mental and if your mind is not in it you wont do it!!
In regards to the Redg and there pt , do mean on the Trainee gnr course or Day to day?
If your applying then enventually you will get to go on potetial gunners acquantence corse(PGAC) this should give you an accurate insight into what the MINIMUM standard are for the regiment . Fitness is the bread and butter of any infantry unit be it marines , army
or raf regiment.
