Own Kit
Unfortunatly as to the bets of my knowledge, all kit is issued at CTC, I mean all fighting kit and stuff. i remember hearing that under no circumstance can you use your personal kit from home. I wanted to use and assault vest and got told it wasn't going to happen. Through training you only use what everyone else uses, ie PLCE 95 and assault boots are issued. After training, you are welcome to buy which ever kit you like but seeing as it's the Royals your planning on joining, they will issue you with quality kit after training.

It depends on your training team, phase 1 will definetly be pussers only, phase 2 you might be allowed your own warmers kit but that'll probably be it.
I garuntee that you wont be allowed assault vests and gucci boots.
As for quality kit after you pass out, don't get your hopes up, I think you might get some gucci kit for operations but you probably wont get to keep it.

Only 3% of applicants to the Royal Marines earn the right to wear the green beret.
Frostie i wouldn't be too worried. In preparation for application i've bought myself a pair of Grade 1 Standard issue boots and they're pretty warm and in my opinion very comfortable. Quite possible the first pair of boots i've ever worn and have never received blisters from.

Fella's your having a laugh! You will receieve Pusser's issue kit and thats what you will use!
You will all use the kit that is made available to you and nothing else.
Gucci kit on ops, ( cheers
), you will still be given gash kit, before we deployed for Telic 1 they began issuing Desert kit out funny old thing the Hirachy got in the store first so they had the pick of the litter, when it came to this callsign, i came out looking like Coco the clown
I wear size 11/12 boots they gave me size 9, and told me to go and find someone from another Company who had been given size 11! The denims they gave me were falling off me with the legs dragging on the floor they were that big, (i'm not bitter and twisted
) anyway i digress.
The reason is, you all have to know how to use standard kit first, not only that, but not everyone can afford gucci kit, so why should you sit there on your Vulcan Bergan, in your snug pac while your oppo has a Pusser's Fleece trying to light his Hexi while its -5 blowing a hoolie, looking across at you blowing the steam away from your Jack wet that you have just cooked on your Gas Stove. Also if you go out and buy all this kit then fail training you have just wasted all your money, not only that but as a civie you wont know what you need or whats good and whats gash, and what works for you that will come with experience.(Stay Pussers, stay safe).
