I have my Aptitude Test comming up next month, and would be interested to know if there is anyway I can get some more practice tests other than what the Recruitment Offfice dish out.
Try the mensa website or any IQ measuring website. Also try practicing logic puzzles and other such things such as Su Doku. Logic puzzle books can be bought from Waterstones and other good bookshops.
Basically, the tests are just a general test on your intellectual abilities. Theres nothing as such that you can practice on.
The guys in our intake just got our RORRS2 reports today with score on, and the non-tiffs had about 60/120, with the tiffs about 80-90/120, and a few of us 110+. The test isn't that hard as long as you don't let your nerves get to you.
As long as you keep control of your nerves, there isn't much that can go wrong. Just read the questions carefully, but try not to take your time too much, as a few peeps dont manage to finish the test. If you can't think how to do a question, leave it and go back to it.
You can buy psychometric test guide books which will help, I borrowed a couple of a mate and they definately aided me.
Practice long division and multiplication along with general basic maths for the numeracy test but as for the others they come down to your IQ.
Just remember not to spend too long on any one question and as they're all multipal choice if you don't know an answer you can guess it or rule out an answer to a certain extent based on your previous answers - ie, if you've answered 'a', 'a', 'a' for the previous three questions and you're confident they're correct, it's unlikely to be 'a' again.
Going with your first thought of the correct answer will also be a good bet.
My son sat his aptitude test last week. It is definitely worth practising for it. I got him a load of psychometric practice books which he did regularly for a couple of months. It made a huge difference to him and he found the tests on the day alot easier than the ones he had practiced. Did wonders for his confidence, and he passed with a high enough score to have his pick of the jobs. Unfortunately, after flying through the aptitude, interview and fitness test, his eyesight let him down and he had to rethink his choice of job in the end. He has now been accepted as a stores accountant and hoping to go to basic by November. Any feedback on that particular job would be gratefully received.
I dont remember doing any of these tests when I joined up??? Is it the reason I never got paid?
I suppose I must have done them, but for the life of me cant remember.
Gibbo ref: SA role, just remember stores are for storing! As in whenever you ask a SA for anything all you'll get is a "fark off we aint got any!" as he stands behind his counter infront of rows upon rows and shelves upon shelves of kit
So long as you are not obese and can run within the set time I would have thought you'd be ok. With all the running you should be loosing weight anyway
