full term engagement

Post by cruicent »

When I was at the London Afco around March to express an interest, I was told that the maximum time I could serve is 22 years but they will be changing it to 18. Since it doesnt seem to have changed on the official site I was wondering if anyone had heard anything similar and if they are actually doing it?

never heard that in my life. If the open engagement off 22 years changed it would affect all the armed forces as all forces use it as an 'option'.

Also it would mean a full pension after 18 years, and i dont see that happening!

I've haven't heard of this change either. What benefit would the forces have in lowering the open engagement? I would have thought that with the current recruiting problems (if they're still persisting) they would actually up it and try to keep on as many men as possible. Just a thought
