USMC VS RMC

Can anyone tell me who is more elite, why we use different weapons. RMC use SA80 and USMC use the M16?

The Royal Marines use the SA80 as opposed to the M16, because that was the choice of the MoD, whereas the M16 was the choice of the American Government (possibly a budget issue). As for who is more elite; the Royal Marines by a longshot. They are both trained for roughly the same role, the difference being that 'Royal' is Commando trained, meaning that he can operate as a self sustaining unit in the field for a prolonged period of time. The USMC is much larger that 3 Cdo. Bde. though, and it also has a number of fighter jets, helicopters, tanks etc., whereas the Royals are supported by the other forces, i.e. the Junglie squadrons from the RN, the Commando Artillery from the Army, and the RAF provide air support, along with the Joint Helicopter Force. The USMC is not far off the standards of maybe the Black Watch of the Army, and other such crack Infantry Regiments.
