HMS Spare Parts

Post by Tab »

There was an interesting article in the Sunday Telegraph page 13. It was describing that a number of Royal Navy Ships are at sea with either defective weapon systems or none at all. The ships are being sent to patrol safe areas of the globe while their equipment and spares are being used to keep the ships in a combat area properly equipped. Of about 25 ships that the navy still has there are at least five of them that have cannibalised for spare parts

Nothing new with this story!

I remember my old man deploying on Endevour 90. HMS Bristol only just made it round the world. As she was a one off, spares were paractically non existant! The Chippies, Tiffs and Stokers earnt their money on that trip!
