In the first few weeks of training your weekends will be taken up with gym or drill sessions. Most of the time you'll only be doing saturday mornings but occasionly youll do sunday as well.

You get weekends off in the schedule and a couple of long weekend leaves ( friday-sunday) but it's all down to your training team really.

My training team loved working weekends ( i mean they put the effort in out of their time to train us), with this and that bloody duty troop i didn't get a weekend off until week 23, bar long weekends. But since then ive had every weekend off.

You can go wherever you want really. In week 8 you get a pass that entitles you to leave camp on friday and come back on sunday-if youre not working. Most lads go home or go on a weekend bender. Before week 8 youll have to be back on camp before 2200 i think it is.

Try and avoid exeter if you can its crap. Nods are only allowed in a few pubs.

Nah some weekends you get off lads, well basically off, last saturday we did like some drill and some other crap and got the rest of the day off, go out at night and get drunkered! (although we had to be back at 10 :S) and on sunday we went to church and had some wets and then went back to the accom and had the rest of the day off, you can go ashore but we (the troop) usually have sundays off lounge about and do some admin and that.

But Im on weekend leave at home right now, had parents day today and now i dont have to be back until suday! harah...then im duty recruit on monday :S..sigh...

One question, do you have to go to church on a sunday? Or will I need to say I'm a Buddhist on my application form to get out of that.

umm you 'have' to go to church 3 times in your training period any other time is optional.
You declare your religion at the start and i guess you will have to go sit in a different room, either that or just sit and watch, cause im no religion i just sat and watched the other guys, even though i had to sing the hymns! lol

But they have an all faith room there, or sommit like that, which means you can be any religion to enter it.

Duty Recruit - everyday a new person in the troop is duty recruit, basically they are in charge of the troop for that day, you stand out the front and report to the DL, PTI or whatever saying that everyone is fell in etc.
You are in charge of making sure all the accomadation is cleaned and that everyone is squared away, you have to report to the coporals at night and every time need be.
Pretty crap really, i think its just to see who has leadership qualities and i think it stops week 15 when you get section commanders. :-?

Funnily enough, we've just got the first at CTC, in 891 Tp I think...he has different turbans for drill, camp, the field etc...I suppose he'll get a green one instead of a hat though...can't wait to see him trying to change them on pass out day in front of everyone in Falklands Hall! Wonder what he'll do for a cap comforter?

Depends on your training team, we still run a duty recruit despite having diamonds.

Yeah we saw him there while we were doing our PRMC. Does he wear that in the field?
