Confirmed: Black watch to disband 'no reprieve'

Post by may18 »

Confirmed last night there will be 'no reprieve' for the regiment.
They will find out while still in iraq i guess.

Theres conflicting reports as to why it is happening.

Gen Jackson reports it will e good for the army and efficient

Others such as Col collins claim it will damage recruitment, cohesiveness and that the regimental system is vital. They feel its purely lack of funding .

I thought they were going to be incorporated into a scottish 'super regiment' but be allowed to keep the name and cap badge?

Talk about a kick in the teeth just when they should be getting a pat on back.

Perhaps a kick in the teeth for the Black Watch but times are changing and if costs needs to be cut then can we stand in the way of progress rather than let tradition prevail. Obviously a civilian point of view of course.
