Anyone elses BFT time vary as much as mine?

Post by CharlesP »

Some days I do 1.5 miles it in 8:45 and then I can have a shit day and do it in 9..like today. Does this happen to anyone else or am I just physiologically strange?

Also it seems to happen when its cold..my times are a bit worse in the cold weather. Nothing to do with warming up or being a fanny about runnning in cold weather, it just seems im slower..anyone else, or again am I just weird?

It's pretty obvious what's happening. You're just not pushing yourself as much as you did the other time(s).

Maybe you're tired and what not. But it's common sense, that you've not put in as much effort for a slower time, compared to a faster. Makes sense to me anyway.

I know it sounds stupid, but could it be the cold air? I mean sometimes when I'm out running and the air is really cold, it is heavy on the lungs therefore harder to take in as much air as usual.

I dunno, only hazarding a guess! :)

I find street running harder than field/off road running as i run down the main roads near me, car fumes seem to put me off.

Yeh thats right..the cold air seems harder to breath. I much prefer running in about 15 degrees or something like that its perfect. With regards to car fumes and also runnig past fast food places make me want to throw up.

I love running in the cold. I dont know why, but i just love the cold air hitting you, yet you dont get cold because you are working hard. I find running in the heat hard work as i sweat loads which i found when i went to the Borneo jungle. Really tough even to walk, let alone run in those conditions.

Professional atheletes times vary alot, you aren`t alone ... the longer the distance the more variance.
