Screw the Army

Post by Lance »

Ladies and Gents. After a long long wait to get into the Army I have now decided to withdraw my application to join. This is not a decsion that I have taken lightly and it is with great regret on my part. The crux of my decision is down soley to the application process. If you look at some of my earlier posts you will know what I'm talking about.

Basically I am fed up and no can longer wait in limbo while my application is supposedly being processed and my AFCO are useless. I have waited one year exactly and nothing has happened. Everytime I call them they say that they have heard nothing and will call me when they do. They have never offered to follow it up by making a call or sending a letter. I have passed up many oppourtunities because I wanted to join the Army but I have to face reality and can no longer put my entire life on hold and it is time to find a new career.

This means that I will no longer be around on this forum so I want to pass on my thanks to everyone that helped me and kept me motivated right up to this point.

Goodbye

Lance

Why does it take a year for the army to send you to a medical?! It only took me around 5/6 weeks after applying....heh.

Lance mate, dont give up.

i had the medical at RSC,but was then sent to this "specialist" because of a previous injury...but that wasn't the reason for the long application.

Why not join the Royal Marines!

Be the Best? The Army!??!??? No Way on Earth! Just join Her Majesties Corp of Royal Marines! (formed in 1664)

You can drive a Truck/Land Rover/Landing Craft/a Hover Craft/Fly a Chopper/Skidoo/Your Boss Mad/and Yomp! Get paid more and still Shoot/Kill people! :D (you now it makes sense)

You can do the Para course if you want to. Did mine 9 months after joining my first Commando Unit. And you will be "ELITE" as in wearing a Green Lid (Commando Beret). And be a member of the "Best" soldiers that have ever walked the Planet.

The one problem is that it is not easy and the training is twice as long as the Armies. 190,000 Army. 6,000 Royal Marines. (1,000 of them the best Musicians in the world!)

If I have upset anyone well............................Tough Sh*t! How the Army has the Gall to use the logo "BE THE BEST " Is beyond me! :o

Some people want to join the Royal Marines, Some people want to join the Paras. For a long time i have wanted to join the paras no other unit. Its what i want to do and hopefully will achieve. Its the Airbourne Brotherhood that you dont seem to get in any other unit that attracts me to the paras.

Dont mean to to upset anyone, just how i feal.

I feel that it is goverment policy to keep recruitment down to a minimum so that they can turn around say that they are cutting certain Regiments due to poor recruitment.

What, all of them?
That could take a while...
You can have peace.
Or you can have freedom.
Don't ever count on having both at once.

See now this is freakin me out, i just sent my application off about 3 weeks ago. It arrived there on the 13th of this month according to Purolator, so i know they have it.

I emailed the Army Careers Office asking them to atleast acknowledge they had it, they would not. They simply referred me to another e-mail. I emailed that a week ago...no answer as of yet.

I hope this is NOT what Tab is saying, some unofficial policy, or im gonna be steamed. I put alot of effort into my appy, and i have alot of dreams riding on the line here. If it turns out Tab is right, i will personally fly over there and kick some urmine bottomed, chair swivelling, beauracratic as*.

Then ill join the Royal Marines.
