so far i have filled out my forms at the AFCO and he has sent me home with some more forms that are sitting infront of me now!
Now first of all im hitting myself over this does anyone know where i can retrieve my GCSE results from as i dont have the paper they gave me over 2yrs ago
I have to take a couple of tests for my trade and was wondering just how hard the maths tests are?what should i revise mainly? Are they all multiple choice? Any other info you have wud be useful.
My chosen trade is AET that might help you pinpoint exactly what maths test i will be taking
I ask about maths as i aint bad at it but it is not a strong subject of mine...
cheers people hope you can help me !

hey mate, i have done all the tests for AET and passed them and believe me mate, if i can pass them anyone can.
Just go over general mathmatics like volume, long division and multiplication, area, angles, etc and also they threw a question in about 2 trains traveling towards each other and you had to work out what time the would meet. I left alot of the questions out on it and i still passed so i would not worry to much about it mate.
Good luck.

Well i failed my first test to be an AET so i went with my second option which was OMC which i had enough marks for, then after i had completed my PJFT i decided i really wanted to go for AET so i completed the test again, and that was within 4 weeks of taking my original test so i dont think you have to wait long.
this is mine and richy-boys topic lol
i have another question
the bloke i see at the AFCO said that cause you wanna be an AET you have to take the standard tests (maths, english, science mechanical, reasoning) and then he sed you have to take another maths test cause the trade you wanna go in...
BUT
in the booklet he gave me it says only artificers take the extra maths test?
can anyone please clear this up for me thx

Well booklets tend to get outdated and incorrect pretty fast. So if he says you need to take it then just do it. If you pass it, it can only serve to open more doors for you career wise.Hallsy wrote:this is mine and richy-boys topic lol

That book is outdated, up untill six months ago AET was called artificer but then they did some restructuring here and there and made it seperate, it is however pretty much the same as it was but with a different name.
You will have to take the artificer test but its not to hard, if you got a D or higher in maths GCSE you'll probably be fine, i got a B at GCSE and i was told my score on the test was very good.
I did some revision on the GCSE bitesize website, which i think helped.
Lastly, if you cant find you're GCSE certificates check the web as the examination boards have sites, you should be able to contact them to get reprints but you'll probably have to pay.

Hey jus to tell you aet is now the only route into air engineering. Im still at raleigh and currently one of the last entries of the old aem trade. Now all aems will at some time be trained to technician level to be on par with the raf techhys but aets can either be fast tracked onto a similar artificer course or move on at a slower pace, whatever. But from now on you will have to do the extra exam to go into air engineering. got that. Confusing I know.
