Eyesight requirements for RMP?

Post by Ezrolith »

Hello,

After trying to find out the eyesight requirements for the RMP twice at my local army careers centre and failing - i'm wondering if anyone knows them off hand, and for any other branches. From the website, I get the impression some divisions have less harsh restrictions than others, does anyone know if there's an overall minimum? With contact lenses my eyesight unsuprisingly is high, but I think this may stop me getting in... which is a shame as i am very determined on joining the Army, especially the RMP....

My standards.... :(

Visual Acuity Right Left
Distance Unaided 6/60 6/60-
Distance Aided 6/5 6/5
Near Unaided N5 N5
Near Aided N5 N5

Refraction SPH CYL AXIS
Right -275 +025 175
Left -325 +075 10

Think there should be a decimal place in there somewhere but i'm not sure... i don't know how it works. Got no colour perception problems, just the 6/60 thing, and it's already stopped me doing alot of things i'd like to do. If i can't join the RMP, something i've always wanted to do - because of this i don't know what i'll do instead

You'll be fine mate. The cutoff point is -6 diopters, plus the AGC tend to have less stricter requirements than the direct combat regiments.
