I usually do pretty heavy weights (heavy for me anyway) 40 - 50 kg on the benchpress and then 3 sets of 10.
Would it be better to do 4 sets of 25 with 30 kg ? As in muscle stamina.

Well you need a certain amount of strength as well as endurance. A thing i find that helps is start off with high weights and low reps for a few sets then finish off with low weight and high reps, this way your endurance will also be a lot better as your muscles will be nackered from the strength exercises thus making it harder to push out 15-20 reps of a lower weight thus increasing your endurance in a fatigued state.

My advise would to be doing a good mixture of both either do High Weight Low Repetition one session, Low Weight High Repetition the next. The other way is too start with a weight you can do 6-8 reps with (HWLR) and build up the number of lifts and sets through your training until it becomes LWHR at around 20 reps. Then increase the weight. I do 5-10 sets of 20 for most training because I build very easily but do power lifting of Very Heavy weight around my 1 rep max for 2-3 set of 3-5 reps. Your best bet is to pop along to the library and get a few books out on the subject.

I remember reading somewhere about an american footballer, who when a youngster was really unfit but showed potential and was told by the coach "Do a set of pressups or a set of sit-ups every time an ad' comes on tv". Apparently got him really fit and now whilst the team are in the gym he just does millions of pushups and situps.
Do'nt know if the storys true or not but just doing sets of pushies everytime an ad' comes on the telly does work.
