Getting out of bed
Getting out of bed
Just wondering if it is better to get out of bed on the left side or the right.
Will it make a difference to my chances of being able to think for myself???

This is serious stuff Gash. You have to take into consideration whether the bed is placed against a wall. For example, if the wall is on the right hand side of the bed and you try to get out on the right hand side meeting with the wall could seriously impede your ability to make coherent decisions.
Then there is the problem of bunk beds (don't most wannabes still sleep in them?) - how high is the bed, is it possible to get down without using the ladder, will leaping off the bed cause shin splints?
Then there is the even bigger problem of a double bed. If your partner sleeps on the left would you really be able to crawl over her to get out of bed on the left? There is so much to think about - reckon I'll just stay in bed today.

Another factor is what style are the bed sheets ?
Also what tog(wrong word maybe ? ) is the cover?
What clothing are they wearing ?
At what time is this event to take place?
How long have they been asleep ?
YADA YADA YADA
Now to the point. I would agree with you some answers are easily found out (or just plain commen sence). Saying that thou im sure ive made a stupid post somehwre

Hi Guys,
Many thanks for the advice it was all very useful. But in that time honoured wannabee tradition I've decided to chose a third as yet unmentioned option, from now on I shall be exiting my chariot via the foot end. This way I don't have to confuse myself with any left/right decisions first thing in the morning.
Don't you just love it when you try to give someone the benefit of your experience and they completely ignore it
God save us.

Mince, if you have aspirations to join the focres then I'd swap 'youthful inquisitiveness' for listening in and blind obedience. I initially had problems on the latter (cured by bouts of behaviour aversion therapy
)....but it works
If you have notions about being able to add to three and a half centuries of accumulated wisdom - tested in the ultimate arena - in the first few years then I'd think again. A good soldier is a disciplined soldier. Mavericks and free thinking saviours belong to Hollywood. I know your post was only a high spirited prod but don't upset gash.......he's..........dangerous

Its is getting rather annoying, I haven't seen an 'original' topic about joining for a long time. i don't think there are any left.
but its been a while since i've seen a whos better post, thats nice to see.
But if i see another post asking for relationship advice, i'll hunt you all down like dogs.
As you may have guessed i'm quite bored with it all. come on lads excite me.
N.B
I just found a post thats turning into a who's better and its angered me, jesus i hope god loves you all because I don't (aimed at wannabee posters) not the old and bold and the young and informed

stuck in a rut, unsure about the future, unsure about the military lifestyle, for a while anyway
Points taken. I realise that for the old and bold who are here to fraternise with like-minded folk, the inane and childish stuff on here may make you despair; but ever-increasing posts complaining and deriding us nobbers can be equally depressing. It's easy to say 'those of you who are nobbers should take note and mend their ways; those who aren't needn't worry', but the creation of this 'Retreat - away from the nobbers' means that all outside it are nobbers, or else they'd be admitted. You might say this is wrong, but it's a difficult feeling to shake.
The second option on the poll had it right: face it, it's never gonna happen. With youth comes inexperience, lack of knowledge and immature, banal stuff. Perhaps the old and bold have the experience to recognise this and the maturity in ignoring it?
Besides, you can rest safe in the knowledge that once us 'imps' get through the gates of Lympstone or wherever, we will be in the loving hands of the NCOs, and our cocky mouthing off will be replaced by a size 10 boot. Half of us may be wastes of space, but the rest are the future.
