does the pjft time matter too much or is it just as long as you do it in the time limit?

So long as you pass, in theory no; but they do look at it...aim for well under 10 minutes, most scores seem to be 8 and 9.30 mins. Let's face it, that's nothing compared to the rest of the crap you'll have to do when you get to PRMC.

On the 1.5 mile run on the treadmill- can you alter the speed when u want or is it a constant speed throughout.

You can vary the speed if you want, as you will get shown how to work the machine. However they will slow it down for you if you're about to fall off :).
