The Gym... Is It Worth It?

Post by mr.zog »

Hey There Guys, hope all your training is "Running" Smoothly :)

I need ur opinoin on if joining the Gym is worth it?

I've bin doing dumb bells in my garage, n obvioulsy pushups, situps and pull ups for a few months now, but i'm just wondering if joining the gym is worth it? not necasserily replacing my dumb bell work, but more or less doing.

So do u guys thinks its worth going to the gym like 3/4 times a week?

Many thanks for your time again

Chris :)

If you can afford it, then yes. It means you can vary your training, practice running on a treadmill and you may meet someone i the same boat. But like you say, keep doing what your doing but variation isnt a bad thing.

I'm joing the University Gym. Its 40 Quid to use all the facilities Including the Swimming Baths. I've heard good things about swimming as a good exercise to get fitter etc.

Are you interested in Joining the Gym to get Giant Pecks and a tree trunk neck?

Oh what a terrible, terrible joke... your gunna fit in perfectly around here then :D

As for joining a gym, go for it. As kwew said you can vary your training plus it looks good to the recruiters (they like clubs, gyms and stuff like that)

Good luck whatever you decide to do.

PS hows your training coming along?

I myself choose not to go to the gym, like you I have dumb bells, plus I a mini-gym. It's nothing like you would get in the gym but it does the job, and it' FREE. And as my mini-gym is in my garage I can use it when I want and as many times a I want.

More money for the pub :)

Hi everyone if you are feeling really fit, got to this link, find the circuit training section and do the 'marathon circuit'

It is thouroughly ball-breaking :x

Do it with no rest periods.

not really, just to build up strenght n a bit of bulk really.

PS hows your training coming along?
My training is coming along really good now - espicailly this last month, seen some real improvemnt in my pushups/situps/pullups. I have tho, had a few set backs with running - due to a slight injury, started back on Monday with special insoles, n all seems fine *fingers crossed*

8 months left till i will hopefully be on my PRMC (applying before i finish college, to get the written test/interview/PJFT and medical out the way, then once i have completed my A-Levels be on my PRMC :) )

Thanks for all your replies Guys

Chris :)

£40 a month!!!!! I wish I paid that.

I pay about £60 a month for my local David Lloyd gym (talk about North-South divide :( ).

I do agree with you about the facilities - using the jacuzzi and sauna after a hard workout is great :) .

the equipment at my gym is well good!

today my personal trainer hammered me doing circuit training with the machines and after i used 1 machine i had to drop and do 15 press ups i must of done well over 200 hundred through that circuit.
then i done another circuit upstairs in one of the studios with some scouse house playing fair does me back is killing!

mr zog like me u should hav strong legs from ice hockey i can leg press 300k an da verticle leg press!!!

In my opinion save your cash. Apart from swimming which is just about the best overall training exercise you can do, there is nowt that a gym offers that you cannot improvise.

Treadmills are a particular waste of time.

However if you have the cash to spare then there are probably worst ways of getting rid of it.
