Knee twinge HEEELLLPPP!!

Post by Rugee »

Right lads,

Over the past few weeks i have developed a twinge on the outside of my left knee but i only feel it when i stop running and it stiffens up. Im a bit worried because im hoping to get a prmc date soon. :o

By the way i run in a pair of asics kayano 2 (decent shoes). But i think my problem stems from me running like a spanner and running on the outside of my foot. Would it be worth getting an insole made? or could i possibly train my foot to land differently?

Sods law this would happen now innit :banghead:

Any advice would be great.

I get a slight pain in my right knee when running sometimes and I'm a bit worried about it. But i've seen a physio and he was no good, I just think f@#k it, its not interfering with my running or anything so...

Well if you think that its your running technique and shoes then go down to a running specialist shop and they will be able to see what is the best course of action to take to correct your running technique.

I ran like a cripple too and was messing up my knees from running on the inside of my foot I think it was.

Then I went down to the local specialist running shop and they got me to run on this matt to see what part of my foot touched the ground when I ran, they recomended some shoes and I run basically everyday without any problems :D

if you are having trouble with your knees get down to your doctor and get him to refer you to a knee specialist. dont take any chances because it will hinder your chances in the long run.

I'm having trouble with my hip it would seem :o

Had a pain about a month ago in my hip after a run. I rested for a few days and it was still there. I went to my doctors, and he said it was fine and that I didn't even need to rest. I did anyway, I rested for like three weeks.
Last night I has planned to start again. About 10 yards into my run the pain came back :fist:
I'm going to the doctors again on Friday (that's the earliest appointment I could get)

I think that the injury was caused on the other run because I was running with crappy trainers. Got some new ones now, so hopefully all that is needed will be rest. Still  though
It's only pain.

I have had numberous problems with my legs. My right knee is in pain constantly , my hips(both sides) are prone to have sharp pains regularly.
My lower back is well...buggered and my left arm now has incredibly sharp pains because of a burn i had a few weeks back.

All i can say is rest, dont run and get is seen to by a specialist. Also biking is a good way to build muscles back up and keep up a good CV and reduces the impact of running on the joints.

Right folks, speaking as someone who is actually crippled with OSTEOARTHRITIS,AVASCULAR NECROSIS,OSTEOPOROSIS,AND SPONDYLOSIS,in the Hips, knees, spine and neck.Like you youngsters, I worked hard at fitness when I was going through training and subsequently joined 2 Para in the early sixties, the training was hard, injuries during parachuting, carrying heavy bergans and equipment eventually took it's toll over the years,I tranferred to the infantry and life got a bit easier, but the medical problems remained and, eventually I got out.Today I am not working, because of my disabilities, caused by over training and in general military life.Do not act brave with regards to pain and injuries folks, as they will come back again and again and will get worse over the years. To go into early retirement at the age 45 is ghastly, I am now 55 and I am in constant pain, sleepless nights, painkillers, visits to doctors and specialists, not earning enough to live on and having to watch every penny you get in by way of a War Pension and Incapacity Benefits, all because like you youngsters I was keen to do the job,but I give you good advice NOW, do not ignore medical problems get them investigated and treated now, before they get worse.

Bit of an update, i have booked physio for friday and have been trying to stretch it using the technique that gash-hand suggested

Ive got that mile and half run tomorrow on a treadmill, shouldnt be a problem as with a bit of rest it goes away and its only a few minutes running on a low impact surface, but i gotta get this sorted just the thought of not training drives me mental :banghead:

Im hoping the physio can get it sorted asap as im sick of civvi life and just want to crack on now.

Have just got back from physio, it looks like ive got a muscle imbalance due to me twisting my ankle a few weeks back whilst on the beer. Ive been told to lay off the road running for a week and do cv stuff in the gym rowing machine, cross trainer etc to keep me up to scratch. She also told me to stretch regulary.

So in general a good visit no major problems just a bit of rest and stretching should hopefully get me sorted for my PRMC November 26-29. Plus nows a good excuse to get up to speed on my press-ups.
