sheer level of fitness man!

this may sound kinda wimpy, i wanna become a bootneck in the future when i finish college, (a year or so from now), but i was wondering if the sheer level of phisical fitness required for them is something that can really only be reached by naturally fit people? Asa kid i did no sport or anything, only recently have i started eating properly and doing regular exercise. when i started proper exercise i could do 0 pressups, i worked that up to 10 in the last couple of months, then when i heard about the extra hard royal pressups, they almost killed me and i can only do 5. when i started, i could run barely the length of my road, now i have worked up to a kilometer. I know this is a vast improvement, but my level of fitness is still abissmal, and i wonder if really, a person as unfit as me could make it in reality.
Honest answers please.

If you don't have any physical ailments - i.e. asthma etc. - Of course you can get fit...
Strength of Mind is the name of the game - Keep going, keep pushing yourself - The mind rules the body, not the other way around.

your still improving
when i started, i could run barely the length of my road, now i have worked up to a kilometer
still improving and if you really want it and stick with the training for another year you should be able to do it. its not all about physical fitness its how much you are willing to push yourself.

You may need to find someone to carry your books as your college course progresses. Or you can really start working to improve your fitness.

Set your self achievable goals, and when you reach them don’t stop just push your self a little further, keep telling yourself that you can go that extra 20 meters and eventually you’ll find yourself getting fitter and fitter, join a team, any type of sport that will raise your heart rate will make you fitter... I’m not a naturally fit person either, but I am motivated and know where I want to be in a few years...
You may even begin to enjoy going for a run and pushing yourself...
Just keep at it and you’ll get there...

Take up Boxing or kick boxing or Muay Thai
all 3 are among the toughest physical sports as far as all round fitness and strength are concerned.
Look at boxers on the telly,
are they not some of the fitest men and women you have ever seen???
A good instructor will do more than just take your money, they will give you all the help you need to get fit, as long as you are dedicated.
My only advice would be DONT join a club which holds gradings once every couple of months, they just want to take your money!!!!!
Better still join a club with no gradings, this is where the serious people go!

COMBAT WOMBAT, I get what you are saying I was the same a few months ago. I have never really been a healthy eating, exercise person my self, but in the last 4 months I have made a lot of head way. I eat healthy food, and I exercise every day, I have a long way to go but I am cracking on with it.
And I am sure you can do the same bruv, just depends how much you want to become a bootneck.

Keep at it. I wasn't naturally fit by any means but by the time I was ready to go down to CTC I was running 5 miles in 25 mins (in my Dunlop Green Flashes - with reference to another post) - when I started I could hardly manage a mile without stopping. Take the running easy at first but push yourself every now and again and you'll get to enjoy the feeling. Chester's got it spot on. If you want it enough it will be yours.
Have a read of "It's not about the bike" by Lance Armstrong about how he recovered from near death (testicular cancer) to win the Tour de France in (I think) 18 months. I think he comes across as a bit of a nobber (Texan, mate of Duys's etc.) but you can't knock what he's achieved - it's a very inspiring book.
Work hard and enjoy.......

Ah theyre very retro now, you go into any hyper trendy (for hyper trendy substitute nerdy) shoe shop and you'll find a whole range of them, just like you can get a whole range of Dr Scholls now for the girlies! I remember my mum wearing them in the 70's!

There's a fashion shop in Wakefield called 'Monkey' that sells Gola Trainers for £70. I remember people getting beat up in school or brandished 'Scumbag' for wearing Gola trainers - Now they are a fashion accessory ?
