Opt outs

Post by jamie »

hello all, Just wanted to know if there are any opt outs who use this forum. i opted out after the mandatory 4 weeks. At the time it felt like all i wanted to do. Now after 6 months of being out, i still find myself dreaming of the marines and thinking back it didnt seem so bad. There isnt alot of hard work in the first 4 weeks of training but the lifestyle change i think was too much for me. also having a new girlfriend didnt help. Anyway i just wanted to know if there are any other like wise users who feel the same as me and wonder if they made a huge mistake in leaving. Any wise 'uns have any advice?
Cheers

Why dont you give it another go?
The only thing that stops your body before you pass out is your mind. Never give in!

I'm off to the AFCO tommorrow to have my initial "chat" with somebody. I don't plan applying tommorrow, since I'm not fit enough to pass the PRMC yet, and I'd be wasting their time, but I need to ask them a few questions. Like wilson says, why not give it another go if you think you made a mistake?
Now then, then now, now then now, now then. Never poo poo a poo poo. Damned stout fellow.

yeah thanks guys i was afraid you'd all say that!! sorry to say im off for an open day at the good old weekend warriers tonight to see if that might satisfy my needs. The TA is a good step down from the marines but as its not so full time it might suit me better. However knowing i could have done better and pushed myself further and harder than a nice weekend in the woods might make me reapply! hmmm.......
