so anyone else besides The Count, going down for prmc on wednesday. I'm starting to get a little nervous now, but I guess all I can do is give it my best...and for the swimming suit...speedo is strongly discouraged right? :)

Good luck guys. Speedo shorts are fine but the traditional Speedo slips look a bit naff. As long as they are not huge Bermuda shorts or long shorts down to your knees then you will be ok. Personally your street cred goes out the window when you get down there as they make you tuck your t-shirt into your shorts.

Well im 'going down' the week after on the tuesday. Im not sure if its nerves or impatience but i cant wait to have my ass beasted all around lymptstone

As usually pre prmc nerves are asking what your doing.

I do 5-6 mile run in about 40 minutes at a steady pace taking in the view of the ducks on the lake  followed by pressups(50 to 60) sit ups ( 70 to 80) and pull ups (3-5). Havnt yet got a recent score on the bleep test but ill have on later and post it up. If it isnt (as suggested by Dan and LMDAVIES) 11 or over im not wasting my time(and others) by going.

ok well since you asked...in all honesty i havent totally tested myself in a long time, I try not to think about it...I know I should of trained more but I'm still fairly confident...well i can push out 50 pushups no problem i just stop when i get to 50 so i guess the adrenaline rush will make me do the required 60. can do 5 pullups which is pretty crap but hey im 14 stone. situps...??? dunno havent done any and i did a 3 mile in 20 47 the other week and can quite easily steady jog a 6 mile run in about 45 mins, never done a bleep test, but i guess i will be within two days.

im trying to take the laid back approach to it all, not trying to worry atleast.

Andy mate...
i would certainly try the bleep test coz your 3 miler time aint great and being a big bloke you'll naturally find the bleep test harder than the smaller, skinny guys! are your press up scores etc before or after your 3miler? I dont want to sound negative but you sound like you need a few more months to prepare yourself properly.

What ever you decide, good luck.

yeah but truth be told, id much rather go on it, give it my best and fail than postpone...if i fail...i fail there's not alot i can do about it besides re sign up and continue to train until the next time I go...plus i'll get an idea of what is needed...experience...anyway i think on the day...its just about as much mental as it is physical...how bad you want it

Some might say if you should have trained harder, you must not want it badly enough ;). But good luck anyway Andy/Count :).

Before joining this forum I didn’t think there was much to joining any of the forces, I simply thought it was a case of going to a careers office and saying I want to be a... and them giving you a date to turn up and start your training, (how naive was I) but the guys on this site made it extremely clear that this was not the case, I’m not joining any of the forces for the next two years, but have already started training although I would think of my self as fit, I guess if you want it bad enough you’ll pass no matter what...

Good luck

Well yesterday i did the bleep test. I got 10.6 wearing old trainers with no shock because my new ones were in the wash. My legs and feet hurt before my lungs did and i dont think carrying around a cassette player with the worlds shortest headphone lead helped much

Can you take suppliments to the PRMC, to stop things like Lactic acid build up etc. Things like lucozade sweets, and carb bars. I's thnking I might strap a few lucozade sweets to the inside of my leg for the last day.

Take some electrolites for fluid replacement, you wont feel half as nackered the next day. The best electrolites are in Diorehia powders (for some reason??) And vitamin C and E.
