Tips for my interveiw

Nope not an "insider" unfortunately, yet . I've been looking up a lot on history and details on Para Reg, just wondering if 16 AA knowledge was hugely important or not.

This is what you mate and other with similar concerns should do,CONCENTRATE ON THE PARAS ONLY;their history;organisational structure;roles;specialists jobs;stages of training and appropriate weeks;and how/what you will expect to be assimilated in that entity (your expected role and efforts;when and why and so forth).The rest should be of no concern to you,it will just divert your attention from important info.

Seriously,there is nothing to worry about (also paras history is very ''young'' and ''less detailed'' (esp.civilians would not be expected to have its own 'real full' background activities;for this go to your local library and search for an academic book titled ''COVERT OPERATIONS:FROM HO CHI MINH TO BIN LADEN'', forgot the author's name,and it is a massive 1000+ pages book---laying out parachute reg role besides SAS and other secret paramilitaries and intelligence in fighting local troublemakers, yemen, oman,malaya,against soviets etc),so to speak.The interview you should dread about is one at the ADSC,cos they have your future in their hands,literary,concerning career in the army.Act natural,straight shooter,no lies,fidging,confident etc..,the 'job will be YOURS' (as the pamphlet you will receive will inform you).

One point,each step you will be prepared before you go to next step,it is a new era,everything is well organised and efficient(as far as I experienced),'custom designed' to suit each individual requirements.You will be passing each stage so first and ''natural'' as if it is habitual.

You should definitely be an officer mate. That is some long-winded sh*t!

I would suggest you try and learn as much as you can about what the paras are all about and what our specific job is....which is rapid deployment of airmobile, aggressive shock troops to anywhere in the world in 72 hours. Officially its 72 hours, but in smaller numbers we could be anywhere in the world in more like 24 hrs.


And Scouse, PF come under direct control of Brigadier 16 Air assault brigade, and are advanced reconnaissance force; the eyes and ears of 16 AAB.

SFSG come under DSF (Director of Special Forces). So they are completely separate from 16 Air assault.

Know the basic history of the Reg but they're not expecting a history lesson from you! Just show you're set on joining and you'll be fine.

Oh yeah, one more tip scouse_liam - if you don't do it already, any time you are talking to anyone, look them in the eyes and not floor, pictures ect. Good luck for the interview, when is it?

insanity is common to me.

Anyhow,those going to ADSC,what I can say of 1.5m run is simply,It is A Piss.para-to-be lads,we were few and we washed it,one lad,the last one got above required 9.18 and was still passed with us,a good lad too.As long as you have trained hard(above normal),you have no worries lads.

well off to depot soon myself,wont tell when,sorry.I will just disappear.

in my eyes above 9 min when you start is slow but there you go.
just a quick one but emphasise how your aware that the parachute regiment are a lot fitter than line infantry and also a lot more aggressive - and explain the reasons why. a basic history of the regiment is fine as long as your confident in your presentation and have a laugh with your interviewer you will be fine so dont fret.
can remember my interview - spent most of it joking bout my football team the mighty whites of leeds united!.... incoming

yeah.
He got something like 9.38,but he showed absolute determination and great teamwork in other events,and in the gym with heaves,lifts etc. and he had an excellent interview,confident icebreaker.And just to point out,he was no supermen,or the fittest in the group of paras-to-be and even the rest.But apparently,and no doubt from those of us who teamed with him,HE HAD A SOLDIERY QUALITIES (OR POTENTIAL,that what they re looking for,POTENTIAL).

Dont worry scouse_liam,just give your best and show soldiery qualities you will be fine,as we were,and the rest will be so too.By the way,is your 22nd interview at AFCO (post or pre-medical report completion).if it is the former,post,then it is an important interview and will decide how quickly you are arranged to be taken-in for selection.I had mine on (one) monday and on thursday same week i received a call that i was invited to adsc,that fast.

Well i have been medically approved and the para who is at the office is a really good man. He said he will try his best to get me through quick as. I only applied like a month ago, so a think am doing well.

well,i guess you have the last post-medical interview (usually by the same senior recruiter or with himself and another head officer f the regional offices).

Mine if i remember correct,was on one-sided paper(some of questions asked I had already mentioned these):

[Q1]: is all about your mini-background;family(if you still live with themor not,and if the latter where you live now and is it private etc.,how you afford the rent and daily subsidiaries etc),relationships(straight,homo etc.),friends/social doings and whereabouts usually (to check if a gang etc),also if your r a member of any ''youth'' organisations (haha!gangs,or extremes).

[Q2]: covers your employment and education in very briefest (u can just say finished college,you have my credentials,they will ask you did u enjoy ur time at college/and what u felt u had gained from such credentials,e.g. NVQs etc),jobs just mention the recent or bundle under one title,non-skilled jobs(construction,labourer etc)/or skilled(office works).

[Q3]: covers your knowledge par what your 3 choices are;the regimental histories,battalions and locations,role assigned,what specialiations etc (here they will ask about p-coy training each events of 8 name these).

After these,they will ask what period you like to have before invited for selection.and the recruiter will take 2-3mins scribing done away from your eyes,his own thoughts(whether you are a disciplined individual,motivated etc---my recruiter was very nice that he let me take a peek of his praises,much appreciated if he is a member of this forum and reads this,Sgt.''percy'').
