Joining the Para's

Post by Rick »

Hi!! Does anyone know a Dutch that joined the para's, and how he did it , by any chance? I have informed about this before. I know through becoming a UK citizen you can join( takes too long). But I know of Dutch marines that join the English marines based on "reciprocal intresse".

I have served in the Dutch :soldier_armed_comeon2: a few years ago i'm 27 now. so time is not on my side.

Yes Dutch marines have a good relation with the Royal marines aswel for the SF units they have. Good for them! Just wished the AMB (AirManouevreBrigade) had the same with the Para's. Would be alot easier then to cross over!

Ah, but doesn't the MoD still require British/Irish/Commonweath citizenship to enlist? Or has that ruling been scrapped?

The ruling still stands, you can't join the the Forces if you're an EU citizen. The subject was raised not so long ago with ref Poles wanting to join up.

Yes that's true indeed, the good news I had wasn't so good news! You have to be an UK citizen or from a commenwealth country, or incase of our marines both parties agree because they had trainings together.for me that means, living 5 years in the UK "legally" or 3 years while being married to an english girl. before i can even think about joining.

Damn shame that is!! if only...... ?? ...
