Can under 18's be sent to a war zone?

I was wondering if under 18's can be sent to a war zone? e.g Iraq. Because i know you can be deployed but can you be deployed to a war zone?

No, you have to be over 18 to be posted to an 'operational theatre' (not war zone)

It use to be the case you had to be 18 or over to leave the gate and go on OPs in NI. But you could still get posted there but get a job in QMs or something if you were under 18.

I dont know about now though as Im sure we had 17 year olds out on OPs in Iraq and Afghanistan

Sorry but i dont know 'military slang' whats 'in NI'? and whats 'QM's' (did a google nothing came up)
