HMS Arethusa Casualties, 1916

Post by James WGH »

I keep finding published records which show the total number of fatalities in the February 1916 sinking of HMS Arethusa to have been six or seven men. However, I have a list which shows the total to have been twelve, and each name on my list is confirmed as an Arethusa casualty on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission database. I'm wondering if anyone can comment on possible reasons for this discrepancy. Thanks.

You have to dig about James. Exhaustive and complete lists are often hard to come by for WW II never mind the Great War.
