Did the Earth move for you, Darling?

Post by harry hackedoff »

Well did it? :o
5.3 on the Richter is a tad wobbly :o
We haven`t had any footage down yerr but reports of residents of high-rise towers in Brum standing in the street shitting themselves at 01 00 local, made oi larff 8)

The Honourable Member for Solihull East once accompanied me, Mr Speaker, to the twelfth floor of one of me jobs to admire the view, prior to retiring to a near-by hostelry frequented by theatrical types.
Mr Speaker, you can imagine my concern at the levels of familiarity displayed by the Honourable Member towards the rather effeminate clientele and his constant referrals to my goodself as a "nice young man like you" Furthermore, Mr Speaker, a degree of hand contact with my knee which I deemed inappropriate, was very evident.
However Mr Speaker, I would like to return to the matter in hand, namely the 5.3 earthquake centred on Market Raisin. Has this House had any communication with the Honourable Member for Lincoln East? Has his model of HMS Victory withstood the effects of the quake or did the balls jump out of the monkey? Mister Speaker, I say we should be told 8)

So, who felt it? Who was scared shitless? What were you up to when the earth moved?

I once had a tremor just south of Preston (or was it a knee-wobbler. :o )

Apparently, it was a siginficant earth tremour (not even likely to make it on the scale, mind). Best thing was, the only damage done was one crocked chimmney and all the windows cracked on the Jehova's Witnesses hall. Couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch! 8)

I was passed out in an alcoholic coma. Still blamed the quake for my lack of attendance at work next morning mind....

At last we can look people squarely in the eye and say that we have experienced our share of devastation in England..... What with all the news on TV lately about the extreme weather conditions affecting the East Coast of the US , the mud slides in the Middle East and South America, along with the dire predictions made by such films as The Day After Tomorrow, we shouldn't forget that Britain has now had its share of devastation too and we should be preparing ourselves in case a similarly fierce act of nature should occur again....

The photo below illustrates the damage caused to a friend's home in the aftermath of 'The Great British Shake' the other night.

It really makes you cherish what you have and reminds us not to take things for granted...............
