19-01-03. I am very sad to inform the world that Ex RSM Eric Pinington RAOC pasted away yesterday aged 67. For 25 or more years dad was Felix the Cat, the armys bomb disposal man. He served all over the world including many a tour in Northern Ireland in the sixtys and seventys. His last tour was along side 45 Cdo in Belfast and he always said to me that he was never more protected or felt more safe than when the marines were providing the cordon at an incident. The IRA could not kill my dad but smoking did, he had smoked all his life until a few years ago when he had to stop due to the fact he had to have his voice box removed, cancer moved through his body over the past two years and finaly killed him this week. If you ever needed an incentive to stop smoking you only had to see what my dad had become both physically and mentally. Dad had played rugby at the higest level in his twentys and thirtys, looked after eight kids with what little money a Cpl/Sgt made back then and I do believe he would of lived ten or so more years had he not smoked.
The family will lay dad to rest on Friday and I would say to any one that is still smoking " have a go and quite"
Miss you Dad

Heaven must have a Bomb scare, thay have called for the best to put it right.
