Welcome back 3 Para
Welcome back 3 Para
Glad to see 3 Para are back from Afghanistan. Well done fellas, you did the reg and the army proud. Hope you get back into the swing of things quickly.
Haven't forgotten those who didn't make it back. RIP lads. We will remember them.

What a tour its been. Toughest fighting since Korea and 3 Para was in the middle of it all.
We are definatly the envy of the British Army and the most experienced combat unit around.
Praise to all soldiers in the Brigade...we are all heroes and showed the world what the Parachute Regiment is really made of.
We will never repay the debt of those who died in combat out there, and we will always remember them.

So what's on the agenda for you guys after post-op leave? I'd guess it'll be a bit surreal gettin back to the swing of things after such an intense six months.
Is it gonna be 2 Para next year after the Marines come back or will it be a while before the reg are back there?
Made me chuckle about your party back in Colly. Care to share any anecdotes on the Cyprus bash? If you've got any photos of that, they have to be put on here. We insist!!

16 i think is the latest figure.
But then there is the guys who were wounded, where this tour will stay with them for the rest of their lives. I guess in some cases thats worse than being killed.
As for post op leave, there is plenty for us which is good. We are scheduled to return to Afghanistan in 2008....deep joy Joking aside, i did actually enjoy the tour, in that i could actually do what i was trained to do. There were chances to put everything i learned into practice and in some incidents it saved my life.

01 mentioned it on the "Irish" thread. Good to let off some steam me thinks.HarryAVFC wrote:Why? What happened? Go on spill the beansBoxingmad wrote:Made me chuckle about your party back in Colly.
It made me wonder whether the powers-that-be will just use the two most high-profile units (apart from the SAS) in the country, i.e. the Paras & Royal Marines for the Helmand situation, or whether it is considering beefing them up with other units/regiments.

We have already been "beefed up" with hat units. We had 1 Royal Irish who are still in Musa Qu'leh (stag on losers!!!) and then we had 2nd Bn Royal Fusiliers who came to stag on in Now Zad and of course the Gurkhas who were in Now Zad and they did force protection of camp bastion (again, stag on losers!!!)
I hear the Spam and Beans are getting some help from some line regiments also. Even though i think 45 is joining 42 out there.
