Hi all,
I'm 25 , graduated uni a year ago and since then worked in crappy office jobs which I hate. I have always been interested inthe army and i'm thinking of joining cos i think i can experience more of life in the army than in an office everyday. Just a couple questions though.
Are there many people around my age in the army? I see alot of folk are 18 and I dont want to be the only 25 year old there, i want to be with some people my own age.
I'm not a typical 'lad' kinda guy, so would i fit in? I'm always making my friends laugh, and easy to get on with though. I'm a normal, calm, polite kinda guy y'know.
I actually want to go to the middle east, Iraq maybe, so will i be sent there? I dont want to be sitting in a base in England for 4 years.
Thanks for any help. This is a BIG decision and I need good info!

Hi,
I felt the same way as yourself about age to an extent. I'll be 24 when I start basic training on Nov 13th. Although I'm joining the Intelligence Corps and during a course I did to be assessed by them I found that out of the 7 people on the course only 2 were under 20 years old. I'm not saying this will be the case during my basic training or anything, Basically if it's what you want to do and you're fit enough, medically and physically, Then don't let your age stop you because if you get to the age when you can no longer join you'll then be wondering for the rest of your life if you could have done it and/or what it would have been like.
In simple terms, Forget about your age and go for it.

Don't worry about the age of the guys you train with.
"Age ain't nothing but a number" you won't notice the difference really, some lads will be immature but they won't necessarily be the youngest ones, people are people.
Also training is only a small part of you service and once you get to Battalion there will be guys of all ages there.
