Uniform alterations - inexpensive military tailor??

Post by buffalox »

This is rather urgent as I need to have all my uniform up to scratch by the second week in March.

I only really need minor alterations for the most part, but my No. 1s need to be relaced with scarlet distinction cloth and I don't want some local tailor to completely mess it up! Suffice to say I have decided not to remortgage the house in order to pay for the work to be done at Gieves, and so am looking for an alternative. Although I am in London, I am prepared to travel a reasonable distance for this!

Many thanks for your attention!

That's a very good idea - the problem is that it's very difficult to actually find these people without a name etc. as no-one seems to have a presence on the internet (perhaps they're not to sure about this new-fangled internet thing) but at least I have another place to concentrate my search on. Thanks!

There'a a military tailor on Queen's Avenue in Aldershot, just beside the church. I got a pair of trousers repaired there (not military!) and they did a nice job.

There's also a dry-cleaners beside the sports shop which says in its window that it does military tailoring, but I've not had anything repaired there (also Aldershot).

'Fraid I don't have any of me in theatre (apart from "official" ones where my tummy's being used as a nice backdrop for the specimen), but I can do better than just any old photo as I'm not sure if photoshop was designed for that degree of alteration. Don't want to crash the system!

How's about a nice worn set of greens? :D

Have you been hiding your tablets again, Harry? :P

All I meant was that when someone's hand has got caught in the blender, green is such a nice contrast to red...
