Its amazing what comes out of the mouths of babes. You think its all play stations and gameboys, then out of the wood they pull at their hearts and write a brilliant piece of proce.

Well done james.

What an excellent piece of work. It should be published.

For a 12 year old boy, that is brilliant and very poingnant. I wish I had been that thoughtful or artistic at any age, never mind 12 years old.
You should be very proud H-N.
You have a boy, who has a good sense of history and is able to express it in a very articulate way.

H_N: I shall show that to my own 12 year-old lad for inspiration. That is really quite excellent! My boy, Jake, comes out with some similarly good work (although his spelling is atrocious!). Fair makes the 'eart leap, it do!

By gum, H_N, you've got a bright spark there!

Can I borrow him to take into my schools as a 'visual aid?' :o

Thank you all for your kind words, I didn't tell him I was posting it here cos he's quite the shy retiring type ( yes ....unlike his dad!)
I am extremely proud of him!!!! I know every dad thinks his son is the dogs, but I know that when it counts this young man will stand up and be counted! I may be glib on here but when it comes to reacting with him sometimes I struggle! I often find myself slipping into DI mode then I think ... The life of a pad brat is not an easy one!
I guess I'm just a proud dad who didn't realise it till now!

Looks like the post was edited this morning - anyone know where the poem had gone? Or did I miss my chance.
