Post by tutor »

I presume this is possible but just not very likely?
Could anyone provide me with further information especially with regard to Submarines.

with thanks

Sorry Mate bit late picking up on this post. You are right it is possible but doesn't happen very often, as you are probably aware it is not a natural career progression. Im not entirely sure what the criteria is to make the jump. I would think it would depend on the individual. Most of the people who I had served with tended to have made the jump later in their careers, not sure if this helps. If you already have the relevant qualifications to become an officer from entry I would recommend you take this route.

1 in 3 officers use to be ratings, just keep keen and let your DO ure up for it they'll look at you and possibly put you up for it in the future.

I would say he is being 'selective' in his figures.

Perhaps he meant to say that 1 in 3 officers in a certain branch used to be ratings or something similar

I think stix is right he must have been, with it being sultan, refering to the marine engineering branch that may be true but hand on heart everywhere I served all the officer's were from the planet posh. I only ever served with 4 that had come up through the ranks and like I stated in my first post they had done this late in their careers.

Heyup Jack, save the liplocks till we`re alone. 8)
I once had a Naval Officer staring at me stark bollock naked in the shower and I didn`t mind a bit. 8) A certain TellsTech thinned out after nine and joined the Andrew as an Officer, fark knows what for
He calls round my gaff one evening and I was washing me lad and me dog in the shower after we`d all been in the Oggin. Is Harry in? he says to Mrs Aitch, He`s in the shower with Jack and Sam, says her. Jaisus, Oi tort youse had only the one sun, says he, we do says herself, Sam is our dog
Oi`ve got to see dis he says and Mrs Aitch was a tad stunned at how I carried on washing me parts 8)
Not the first time I`ve had a wee shower with some dog 8)

Hey T,

Check out BR 8748, Chap 11 'PROMOTION TO OFFICER THE RN UPPER YARDMAN AND RM CORPS COMMISSION SCHEMES' for eligibility and further information. Talk to your DO about your options and possibility of becoming a CW Candidate.

It is possible to be promoted to commisioned rank from that of a JR if you have the determination and are willing to put a lot of extra work above and beyond your job description.

Em

If you get selected then there is a possibility but you could be waiting 15 odd years other wise.
