I was a National Serviceman in the 1950's so I went through it all, now we where all happy to help some one that could not cut it, but they had to be willing to help them selfs. Now we would clean their kit for them bull their boots and press their uniforms, but this all took time, so in return we would expect them to clean the ablution block and buff up the floors. Now
Cipriano appears not to do any thing even keep himself clean, now if your life is being made hell by one man the beastings are arrange to make YOU sort him out, so should any one be surprised when some one actual did sort him out. Now you judge what happened by todays standards when the show is being run on the 1950's standards. Now I never saw any bullying while I was in the Forces, becuase the Army would have taken Cipriano in hand before now, he would have spent some really hard time in cells which does not count as time served in the Forces and if that failed it would been a Military Prison, which was not a place you would want to in the 1950's.
I agree with Tab. When i start basic i couldn't stand being beasted because of some bone idle lazy c@#t like Kip. The first few times is ok because everyone makes mistakes. But its not mistakes, it just pure lazyness.
Get on "PARADE"

Tab wrote:Bigbart, You say that Kip did not deserve to get hit, Now they had been carrying him in every thing they did and I mean that literally. What man would allow his mates to run a race carrying him on his back, he has made no effort what so ever to make a go of it. Ha can't be bothered to turn hime self out properly, he can't be bothered with his kit, as he knows if does not do it then the rest of the hut will do it to try and keep them selfs out of trouble. Looking at him there is nothing wrong with him whats so ever, he is just plain idle. If you watch an interview with him before he gets to go on this course then he comes over as mentally okay but plain lazy.
I don't blame the lad who nutted him as much as I blame the show's producers. (Although I think this bloke only nutted Kyp because he knew Kyp wouldn't hit back..) The producers could see Kyp was hated by his section and everyone could see it coming. They should have taken him out of the show, really. Like you said, in the 50's the Army would have taken it in hand and he would have spent time in the cells, rather than left in training rubbing everyone up the wrong way. Instead it seems they left him as it is, probably hoping the tensions would be good for viewing ratings. And when things went too far, they sh*t their pants. What did they expect?
"Some day a real rain will come and wash all the scum off the streets..."
In the end of the day Kyp could have quit at any point and he didn't, it took the shock of a thump for him to realise and sort his crap out. He came through in the end with some good shooting (god knows how, he shut his eye's before he pulled the trigger everytime) and he stuck it, don't forget, it was only 4 weeks..It takes some guy's 4-6 weeks to get in to the rythum of forces life and I have seen more switched on recriuts quit within the 1st 4 weeks. With his limited abilities and apptitude he probably achieved more in the last 5 days than he did the 1st 3 weeks.Well done I say.. Having said all that, he wouldn't last 2 minutes in the the forces for real
I can't help but feel they let him pass out because they felt sorry for him, and were a bit nervous about the fact that he'd been assaulted in their care. His shooting was good and he managed to get his drill to the same standard as the rest, but he wasn't at the right standard to be a soldier, was he? (not that any of them really were, but he and people like Birks who won best recruit were worlds apart.) In the real world, he wouldn't have passed out. What was it he said yesterday?
"In Salisbury. In the city of Salisbury. Where the man painted the church.."
And was it the Sergeant, or one of the Corporals who said
"I do believe Kyprianou was born on the moon..."
That summed him up pretty well, I thought.
"Some day a real rain will come and wash all the scum off the streets..."
He was just mentally slow he could not have competed with the rest of the section he should not have been there in the first place to the casual observer he would have appeared to be bone idle I personally think Kyp has problems emotional /educational that shou8ld have been noticed.
Did anyone see "Privates discharged" on ITV2 last night? It said now that none of them are going in the Army. That Hassan bloke tried, as did Cray, but as they were both ex-cons they have to have a gap of 7 years between leaving prison and joining the Army. By then, they'll be too old.
2 section all getting tattoos saying "2 section...1955-2004" with their Army numbers made me chuckle a bit. You'd think they'd all come back from the war.
