Greg,
Having owned a Norton Dominator in the sixties I have to agree with you.
600cc,great handling frame(Feather Bed if my memory is correct)It would beat any of the rice burners in a curve but lacked power in the straightaway.Fastest motorcycle I ever had was a full race Yoshimura Suzuki.Man that thing was fast in a straight line, indicated 155mph in fifth but if you tried to lob it into a bend you would wake up in the ambulance,or not.
The Boss and I are currently looking for a somewhat more sedate steed.
Maybe a Fat Bob Harley(although I would prefer a 69 pan head)
Wholley.

Hey wholley if I were you I'd get hold of a Yamaha V-MAX before they become real rare. I think they are even greater bikes than the harley (harleys are around 87bhp while the V-MAX is 147!!). With a aftermarket muffler on the V-MAX, NOTHING on the road sounds meaner!!
As for people fighting on the streets of Brighton, not much has changed! The 'suite' (?) has become the crap hole known as 'The Event', full of damn pikeys.
Sting was in Quadrophenia......heh............classic...........

I had a Commando S in 68... gofast/vibrate/ reglue everything...repeat...fun! The Yammer V-Max is truly a great ride, RUNS when ya want, sedate if you simply must, reliable, and with one of the aftermarket exhausts...sounds like the very thing... even Mama will like it, it's comfy... Herk. Oh yeah...an after an hour- ya feel all wool and a yard wide... all covered with hair... with no beer involved...wholley wrote:Greg,

Get the 20th edition V-MAX. They havn't really changed the bike apart from the suspension in 20 years and it STILL looks awesome. There is something intimidating about the bike.............inspires fear in other people using the road too. lol..............

Not sure about the proportion of men who drive Vespas being homosexual, but I can tell you that the most thoroughly homosexual man I've ever known is an old friend who became a recon Special Forces troop and drove a black 1000 cc Harley Davidson cafe racer. I don't recall any eyeliner, but it's been a few years since I've seen the guy and for all I know he is now a transvestite in a military base town. Or maybe he is a secret transvestite in the manner of J. Edgard Hoover, the former director of the FBI who would wear a red dress with a black feather boa and call himself "Mary." I'll have to send him an e-mail one of these days and ask him if he wears makeup and lacy underwear. I will only do this remotely, for fear of getting punched in the face or worse.

To think of the future and wait was merely another way of saying one was a coward; any idea of moderation was just another attempt to disguise one's unmanly character; ability to understand the question from all sides meant that one was totally unfitted for action; fanatical enthusiasm was the mark of a real man -- Thucydides

This current trend is just a phase, like teddy boys, punks and many more. Of course there may be the odd one or two who stick with it long after it's gone out of fashion, but the majority will be hiding all their photos of themselves from this year in a few months time. There's some fashion disasters in everyone's past, I remember fluorescent socks...
