I think Herny 8th must be up there with them, if it had not been for the Reformation would the Country or the world develop the way it did. By breaking with Rome he unleashed a freedom of thought and enterprize that still shapes the world today. Harry, I know that prior to partition all of Ireland was part of the United Kingdom, and as such its people were British Citizens. This is not to be confused with "the British Isles" which still remains Great Britain and the island of Ireland, both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. My point about Shackleton being Irish is not that he is ineligible to be considered here, but rather he is not a "true Englishman" as described earlier.
