The bergan is the term for a 'Rucksack', the large pack i refered to was an other size pouch for carrying all your kit in that attached to the 58pattern webbing

MOD at their best, I got a copy of soldier magazine this morning as I'm thinking of advertising in it. It shows up the Globe and Laurel as its free and possibly slightly better. In it there was a letter complaining that lads were short of kit yet the MOD were selling it off!

Why are they giving them 58 pattern stuff? thats a joke. Im not saying they should have gucci kit for basic but PLCE stuff was a big step up.

Fair enough, RMR don't give DPM 95 to Phase 1A ( probably not a disadvantage as its warmer at Phase 1A is now always in winter  ) but they do issue it for Phase 1B now - DPM 95 won't take on as much water and hence weight when doing Endurance course, won't make it any easier but at least you won't have as much chaffing.

Its even funnier watching them trying to repack it in the field when they have had a kit explosion pre morning inspection

It was back in 96/7 when they issued the 58 webbing, from memory it was just for nod training (some ot the smaller TA units didnt have enougth kit to issue so issued 58 until trained)

I didnt see cs95 until 2000, but that was more down to the old 'stores are for storing things in' storemen
