Correct. Muscle is easier to break down than fat, so when your body is running low, it picks at the muscle first. I don't know all the science behind it all, perhaps our resident genius (READ: "Special stokey") could enlighten us

Lots of love stokey :o

Lots of love stokey :o
"Special" is one word to describe me :P

 I'm actually quite sketchy on this matter, and I am by no means the residential genius (look in Spence’s direction for that!... I learnt it all for him  :P )

Basically what I’ve been told, carbohydrates are used mainly for high and moderate intensity exercise, fats are used for long slow low intensity exercise and protein is only used if it has nothing else to draw on. You see this in third world countries where the children’s bodies are literally eating them selves

But as I said I’ve always been lead to believe that the body will only use protein in a emergency (no carbohydrates or fats to draw from...) logically if protein was used before fat then every time we exercised the only way to lose fat would be to use all the protein available first, now I know that muscle is broken down to be rebuilt but there is still 'free' protein about that is used to repair damaged tissue... so all protein obviously isn't used up before fat.(if you get what I’m trying to get at, kind of confused my self there :-? )

Anyways...

There are a lot of people who are on low carb, high fat, high protein diets and manage well with that. So the fat is used as there main energy source…

Very basically all the body try’s to do is survive, its not bothered if you can run a four min mile, lift 800Lbs etc, your body does what it can to live and makes life as easy as possible for it self. It will take what is available, if that’s carbs then yes it will use them because they are easiest to use

To be very picky I could say that… The fuel that our body cells use for energy is actually neither glucose (carbs) or fats, it is a chemical called adenosine troposphere (could be spelt wrong) ( also known simply as the ATP). A human cells can hold a staggering amount of ATP molecules at any one moment, and those may be used and re-supplied every three minutes. (roughly) The need for this chemical ATP, coupled with evolution, has resulted in our bodies' developing several different ‘pathways’ for ATPs Creation

And I‘m starting to babble about nothing now. I hope I’ve brought some tiny shimmer of light to what you where discussing (though in this case I very much doubt it, as I just fired information in your general direction.)

Get Spence on to this one. As I've baffled my self :-?

Love you to Illustrious :o
