Yes there is.. though at present the charity papers are still being completed. I hope to have the whole lot up and running within 10 days.
The same with the association should be sorted within 10 days.
Any donations can be sent to the "HMS Fearless Fund" 2 Victoria Terrace, Middleton-in-Teesdale, Barnard Castle, Co. Durham. DL12 0QD
I am arranging with one of the high street banks so donations can be paid in direct at the counter.

Thanks Harry!!!
This is all about emotion and your gesture has really brought the first tear to my eye, thank you from the bottom of my heart and yes your the first to come forward on here.
This is a big task and will take big money but I know it is possible. even if it is a penny in a bottle on a bar this will be done.

This is a memorial to those off Fearless and all the rest who gave more than us, so please follow the lead and let us do this.
I will be putting a print off sheet on the web site, www.hmsfearless.co.uk to collect signatures as this is going to be as important as the money.
This is our history, we made it, lets not loose it.

Any time, Rats,
there is a movement world-wide to sink old war ships, to use as dive sites and I support this for lots of reasons, but the best end for the old Fearless is as a Falklands museum. There is no reason why this could not be self-financing.
yours Harry

P.S. seems we are a little off thread here, but it was an important side step, suggest we all keep an eye on your main Fearless board.
To you personaly Rats, keep up the good work and keep your chin up mate,
H.H.

Guys,

Been off air for a couple of days and need time to update on everything. Two threads I am always keen to follow is PTSD and the museum idea.

Unfortunately the threads have become a little haphazard and disjointed, the PTSD thread has so many potential different sub routes; the case, mutual support, getting it off your chest, where and how to get advice, etc, etc. Perhaps we should consider moving the thread to a topic heading where we could maintain a thread connection.

Perhaps we could 'take over' the unused and somewhat confusing 'congressional discussion' topic under Mil Fin Veterans & retirees section? If you think this is a good call, perhaps Nomad could look at moving this entire thread? and then maybe we could continue with sub related threads i.e. News update for the case, etc, etc. :o

The Fearless topic in particular is popping up all over the site, and due to the amount of interest justifiably so. Perhaps we could shortcut straight from the 'once a marine' site to Ratso's site. Tony?

I fully support the idea trying to retain the old girl, but am concerned we must appeal to as wide an audience as possible. I feel it should try to encompass and include a tribute to LPD's and LPH's, maybe all amphibious forces, but with a strong emphasis to the SA campaign. Much as the Belfast is a tribute to both the navy's big gunned era and WW2.

:-? If anyone disagrees with any of the above tell me to get back in my box, I wont take offence.

Ratso, you have my support, let me know if I can help. As soon as the status and banking is sorted, we need to get covernanting off the ground - at least then we can get something from the tax man!

I for one am ready to sign a standing order form :D

Mutley, hiya,
I`ve said before that I was ammazed at the resonse to this thread sinsc I posted it . To date, there have been 1080 viewers and 53 replies. That is a hit rate of better than 20 to 1, which shows that this topic is important to the members. whether it should have a topic of its own is another matter
I think that when Tony set the site up he would have expected it to evolve, indeed thats why there is a "suggestion box". I dont lay any claim to this thread, or any other that I post and I think that if there are enough guys who feel it should be moved then Tony would probably do so. I sense on so many topics that this is a truly democratic site where every registered user has a voice (even the playground view!) So to all regular viewers of this thread I say that I agree with Mutley, you have a voice.Let`s here it.
as ever,
yours Aye

P.S. Ithink a link to Ratso`s site is an obvious choice for the Royal Marine`s Webbring

Hello, Brothers,
this Saturdays Telegraph had a good piece on 20th anniversary of F.I. Best thing was Clive Dytor`s view, mentions of a certain troop stripey, and of course Doc Jolley.
Tuesday has Si Weston at nine o`clock,(2100 to you) a truly humane guy. Should be interesting,
as ever,
yours,

Hello,

"H" the programme was very good. It came across very well and will make people think?

Simon Weston summed it up at the end by saying you need to talk and get it out.

It is a small world, I bumped into a chap during my working day who I have known a short time. Today he told me he survived on the sheffield. When I told him I was a bootneck he just started to talk, and got some things off his chest. He needed to say it?

Yorkie I havent forgotten about my phone number? been very busy?
My thoughts are with everyone who lives with PTSD.

God bless those who suffer,
I`ve just watched Simon`s Heroes. It should be compulsary viewing for the defence team in Yorky`s action. I felt so proud, I cried unashamedly at several points, but particularly when the pongo Doc was overcome at Ajax. All the way through, I was thinking of you men.
The prog reminded me of a book by Max Arthur called"Above All, Courage" where he interviewed lots of guys who had a differant tale to tell about Down South. Pierre Naya (Pete) is in there as is Steve Newland. What was interesting tonight was to hear a version of Newland`s action which didn`t have him as the star! If you havn`t read the book, I would suggest you do.
Simon Weston came across, tonight as he is in real life which often is not the case with people on t.v. His scars are visible on the outside, and I once was in a pub (4 topped oak, in Widnes) when he walked in. Conversation stopped and several people left. Calm as you like, he walks up to the bar and orders a pint. For you and me an everyday event, but for him that must take some bollocks. He`s got that eveyday, for ever.
For others, the scars are on the inside. But as Si Weston has had treatment for his scars(over 70 opps to date) there is help for you. Pete Naya`s wife said it tonight, "everyone we know who went there, came back changed"
As ever,
yours, Aye
Harry

Yes I thought it was good as well. It was put together better than some of the others that have been on.

At least they were down there showing you what they did, how they did it, etc etc.

Sharky came across very well, and so did Babbington (got his name right?)

Yes Simon it's true talk, but you have to have it brought out, or telling it to another ex or service for it to fall on interested ears.

"H" Well as I have said. I didn't know he was talking to the paper. And I didn't need to kick arse they all did thier job very well.

Simon, the whole thrust of this thread is that talking works, wether to someone who is trained or to a very understanding friend or familly member. And what about my discount for your book?
Yorkie, thats Mr Babbington to you! The Telegraph feature was pretty good, it generally is, but I was surprised to hear your old boss saying "kicking arse".Perhaps some journalistic license was involved!

"H" Im sure I can knock a few coppers off for those involved in this topic.
Ill keep you all posted. Editors /publishers work like snails.
Nobody works as fast as you want to work?
Oh and by the way, have you seen the programme survivor? (ITV weds)
I hadnt till last week, a lad called John on the programme was in the same troop as me. LAst time I saw him I was waving goodbye in southern Turkey in 1991 as I climbed aboard a chinook to come home.
Small world! He is now a barrister. Its good to hear of exbootnecks doing well.
lets hope he dosent win the million because Ill be sick as a pig.
Ill have to charge him interest on the tin of bacon grill I gave him all those years ago?
Simon
