I was going to keep this quiet, but as you two so obviously miss the life...........there will be a kit inspection at Okehampton next year at 1900, room inspection at 2000, and weapons inspection at the bar.

Next time we're in Tenerife more like 8) That sounds like yet another very generous open offer from the venerable sunman. Oakers - check the flight timetables - I'll sort out the silly rig and the billy bob teeth

weapons inspection at the bar
...that brings back a dark memory of half the troop comparing genital warts at the bar in the Walrus :o

I did think El Prez that we had a cavalier approach to the accomodation - some more than others though (isn't that always the way)

honeymoon
Have you seen those tiny webcams you can get nowadays, the ones that would be very difficult to spot if left, for example, on a shelf - amazing

I turned my back on the Corps when I left. Going on that 30 miler left me on a high for weeks. The atmosphere etc etc.
Sully remember the book- My oppo who lost his leg and we lost contact?
Well he rang me the other week (thanks Si). We chatted for best part of an hour, and the funny thing is...............?

Runs a very successful company employing 150 people
Now thats bootneck determination.

Rubber dagger

Post by Oakers »

The thought did cross my mind at one point Chester but who's to say I still wouldn't be down graded and would end up in some gash job like wets monkey!
Plus like Sully said, back door. No disrespect to rubbers, I've known some great ones but it's not for me. If you're gonna do it do it properly.
I had thought about a TA unit based in Brum as well just for a change of scenery but at the end of the day, how ever good they may be they're still perce

Sunman, you're on bud, anytime just give me a buzz. Same for you Sully.

CRMMB'd

Post by Oakers »

Yeah Sully CRMMB'd mate, worst day of my life when a bunch of jumped up matelot plebs ripped my career and dreams to bits. I even had letters from my OC and WSM to try to dissuade them but they weren't interested.

Like I said though bud, getting everything squared away now slowly but surely. Always dig out blind at work and am making quite an impression but it's not for me. The Police is what I'm aiming for now.

Simon, I wish I'd been able to make the 30 miler, it sounds like you had a good crack (not like that :o )
Good your oppo got in touch, that for me was one of the worst things, suddenly being away from all my buds and never having much contact with them.
I've always been the one who wears a Corps tie to interviews etc so sometimes I bump into blokes who recognize the signs.

I think he was referring to 'back door' in a sexual sense ;)

Either way, the RMR will always have this stigma with some Regs. who have left and indeed some that are still serving. They'll never truly know until they have tried ;)

Innuendo

Post by Oakers »

Blimey, it's not like me to miss something like that! No hot wet that's what it is, I need my caffeine injection

As I said mate I have no problem with RMR, it's just not me. I'm all or nothing.

I was on about our earlier reference to fudgewhacking mate  I was trying to be funny :( I don't know much about the RMR other than when I went to the London Bridge outfit and met some right tossers who put me off (primo's giving me the large one about how good they were - save it for your secretary/receptionist tomorrow morning thought I). Like you I've met some outstanding rubbers though - not that I was anything special or that I'm in a position to judge. That's bad news about being crummed mate - at least mine was my own decision - and for me to take the consequences. I don't know about you mate but I still sometimes have dreams where I go back for some reason and everyone blanks me  (what's new I hear El Prez say)

Simon, good news about your oppo mate. Si (our mutual friend and resident Mr Fixit by the looks of it) sent me some phots of my troop in training - outstanding, nice one Si. I was taking a quick skeg at work and one of the secretaries wanted to look. "What have you got in those carrier bags on your laps?" says she. "They're not bags they're white rabbits"....and the conversation developed from there  I feel the same about the 30 miler - everyone just couldn't help being themselves (and a bit quirky  ). Next year Oakers - if you're up to it mate  (below the belt I know mate but this is a bootneck forum 8) )

Chester - you nipped in while I was composing my heart rending opus. I think I just met some nobbers - which, of course, are even known to exist in the regulars and probably in a very similar proportion. I didn't feel that I could just barge in and assert myself through sheer force of personality as the small question of rank would intervene. You're right though, best to give it a go - stick at it longer than I did (about 40 minutes).

Oakers - better lay off the Horlicks in the mornings mate

Standby lofty

Post by Oakers »

Standby Sully, I'll be there mate and I'll be carrying your loafing weasel carcass as well  :o
I still do the occasional thing to make sure I still could if I ever needed to as well as my usual gym trips.

Last thing was a twelve miler with 32lbs followed straight away by a two mile row, two mile cycle, two mile swim and 500 press ups max effort and with no breaks.

I'll be up to it skin, just make sure you're there to get the wets in when I get in after hanging out of my hoop

Shame you live in London Sully,I reckon we definitely have a few lanterns to swing. Are you originally from London?

Ahh the rabbits, my other halves a veggie who adores animals so anytime she's annoying me I remind her of various survival ex's.

Hold the rabbit by its feet hanging it upside down and stroke its head and down its back to get it all relaxed so the meats no chewy and then crack, flat hand behind the neck and seperate the head from spine. Classic
