For those that didn't know already
ABI = AirBorne Initiative
This was (and still is) a saying used in Para Reg / Airborne Forces circles and basically means that the individual has to be able to use his own initiative to deal with whatever is likely to come his way. I believe its origins date back to the war when Paratroopers were likely to be scattered all over the DZ and have to fend for themselves or in small groups.
On leaving the Depot and joining your Battalion you had to sign out a container of ABI from the stores. (still got mine at home)

Beasta, now where do I start.
It started when I was a wee young lad working in a local supermarket. Young girls would come in and id mention to my mates that she was worth a you know what
. They would then say something like "Your Nothing but a Beast you". Then it gradually developed over time into Beasta as it was easier to say on the footy pitch.
