How many feet are the pilots flying above ground ?
Not many! They can be as low as 30 ft

at times to avoid radar, but when approaching the target will usually climb much higher to drop ordanents and avoid AAA.
How many planes go an a misson (or sortie) together ( Is that a squadron ?) who's incharge up in the air ?
As far as I'm aware it's only 2 planes together, a lead and his wingman. The guy in charge in the air would be the pilot and navigators. They are briefed on the targets by their command, when in the air its up to them to find and destroy those targets.
