Now my eyes are opened, I thought it was his signature and glanced over it. What a clever old Owdun you are to observe such slight insignificant, but ultimately important minutiae. And there was me thinking you were a dopey old bugger!
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

After you, Frank.
Dopey old bugger, indeed
Dopey, yes, bugger, maybe.
But old, never
El Prez, indeed.
I remember him when he was just a Candidate :P

Valium is for wimps. it takes more than Valium to knock me down. Anyway I like this jacket, it's warm, fits well and suits my position in life as waiter in chief to the cat and dog, plus Nurse. Wibble wibble! 8)

To return to the topic, I'm sorely tempted, (this jacket chafes) to go into the local art supply shop, browse amongst the Blues and then mildly request Crab Fat Blue. But that would be extracting the urine.

ROTARY BOOTY

Post by sittingstress »

Booty,

I was at Larrparts in the late 80s. I was a JNCO on GDT teaching NBC too! I was also there when 1 Sqn lost the boys and if you remember there were 2 attacks that night.

1st at the Nieuw Bergan, car bomb, 2 dead 1 injured
2nd in Roermond, Shooting, 1 dead 2 injured

We were targeted because MOD had decided to quit the continuous 4 month roulement tours of NI and save money by forming a new sqn to stay there permanently. This act made III Sqn the first new permanent unit to be based in NI for many yrs. PIRA decided they didn't like that idea and the warnings were issued.

ANYWAY I am racking my brains trying to think who you are. I have an idea though!!

air field defence

Post by blackheartnz »

the job of the regt is airfield defence ,in the field in support of the harrier
The normal security of the airfields falls in the hands of the raf police .
Sometimes the police ask for help in patroling the airfields.
The regt goes into the field protect the harrier force against the enemys special forces .During the Faulklands one rapier sqn was sent with the invasion fleet and one flt of men from 15 sqn was sent to acension Island
I hope this enlightens you

raf regt CORRECT INFO!!

Post by rafregtgunner »

Well El Prez, you seem to be slightly lacking on the topic of the raf regt.
I can asure you that that there wasn't a marine in sight when i went into basra. Well apart from the special type that many of you read books about.
As for contacts, as a sqn we had two during our time there. They soon ran after getting some from the top gpmg on a WMIK.
I belive 51 sqn had one aswell. A certain cpl and an oggy returned fire and shot the bloke before adminstering first aid. Caring or what.
I'm not claming that the raf regt are front line troops cos we are not. Specalist infantry we are.
We are always dissapering on op's which can never be bragged about.
Yeah we do stag on from time to time as well as ever other unit. Many a time i've gone past a gate with para's stood on. Fact of life, we all do it.
We have been in every theatre of op's since world war 2. It's not hard to have troops there cos we are a small unit some one always gets to go somewhere.
So for everyone who thinks we don't do much then either give it a go and then preach.........or if you really push the boat out, pass selection and then you'll see us!
The more you sweat in training.............
The less you bleed in battle.

81mm mortar. Gods work!!
