thanks yorkiemarine, but lets all save them till we`ve accomplished what we have set out to do, have read the topic, re Gibraltar, and I`ll definately watch my back, but sometimes straight for the jugular works better than the diplomatic route. reminds me of when I was Guard Commander at Seaton Barracks. I don`t know how many of you have done guard duty there, but you must know that there was always a problem with ants in the Guardroom galley. The night in question, I was sat at the desk in the Guardroom, the guard was watching a film, Invasion of the bodysnatchers. the light bulb went on in my head, and this is what went into the Daily Occurence Book,

"Whilst the guard were watching the invasion of the bodysnatchers, the local army of ants invaded the Guardroom, and snatched the Guards Scran",

Action to be taken:- inform the DOE.

well the book used to go down to Coypool with the Guard 2i/c at about 08:30, the Guard Commander being relieved at 09:00. I went down to coypool, and Workshop SSM, was waiting at the maingate. Ossie Bouchier, (pizza face to Wksp Sqn) was fuming, the c/o had bollocked the RSM, and he in turn had bollocked Ossie, I drove through the gate, to be stopped by Ossie, and he proceeded to give me a bollocking, I was saved, by someone opening the upstairs window, in Ossies office, and shouting, "HOLD THE ANCHOVIES", Ossie dissapeered to his office, allowing me to make good my escape, to this day, I do not know who my saviour was, but many thanks, but within the week the ants were gone, although I doubt Ossie will be bearing down on me, someone will obviously be marking my card.

the main problem at the moment, is saving Gib.

the time for :drinking: will soon be upon us.

"Wot dyer meeeen by missin at 300 metres you prat" ............ hurls rock at Nod, follows with gravel and anything not nailed down,... then delivers regulatory boot DMS for the use of in area of ribs, or if you really pissed him off he would descend on you feet first. Obviously failed the Noel Coward Charm School. Self same nod, still grinning. Hi Ossie!
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

Sandy,
With regards your thread some three screens back. You wonder WHY, I guess that they were a wee bit pissed of with whats happening to them and the general scheme of things, like being DUMPED.
As for the submariners, they love life without soap on a rope.
and while on the subject of soap on a rope, it was invented by a submariner! Ever tried picking up a dropped piece of soap in a sub's shower(nuke subs only)..... please don't answer that..........

Interesting parallels in the news, .... the Spanish (not exactly beacons of light,in the animal welfare business) have deployed their Navy & Coastguard to defend a herd of feral goats from Morroccan "aggression" ...

Whilst El Presidente (with his "Ethical Foreign Policy") dumps from a great height on Human beings ! ... & can't even deploy a convincing argument for doing so!

Funny old world innit ? ... in fact if peoples lives weren't about to be ruined,it would be laughable. Makes you think,eh? :agrue:

Cheers

Looking to start Espania net campaign.

Anyone got a good quality e-pic of the corps badge/colours - clearly showing "Gibraltar". Suitable to stir up/needle a few other sites.

A thing is half done if it is well started.

hi all, had an e-mail back off Patrick McLoughlin MP, the only Conservative (elected) in Derbyshire, with the following speach by Michael Anchram (con), but firstly, my e-mail to, Patrick McLoughlin MP, explaining the feelings of Royal, Past and Present, (no names except mine), and some of the History of Gibraltar. this is the reply off his constituency administrator, Lynne.

Thank you for your message. You are right that Mr McLoughlin is the only Conservative MP in Derbyshire, but despite this, you would have to raise any personal matter with your own MP - there is a strict parliamentary rule about this.
However, I think the attached press release from Conservative Central Office should explain very clearly the Party's position.
I will ensure Mr McLoughlin sees your message, as I know he will find your particular experience and view point very interesting and he will want me to thank you for taking the trouble to explain it to him.
Lynne, constituency administrator to Patrick McLoughlin MP

Press Release
Ancram: We will always back the people of Gibraltar
Michael Ancram

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Shadow Foreign Secretary, Michael Ancram QC MP, has today written to the people of Gibraltar to make it clear to them that the Conservative Party wholeheartedly supports the Rock to remain under British Sovereignty. He says in his letter “I admire your determination to resist the bullying that you have been subject to. You will always have the support of the Conservative Party in your resolution to keep your British sovereignty”.
Please find attached a full copy of the letter.
ENDS – For further information please call Katie Perrior 07958 459 398.

To the people of Gibraltar,
This is a trying time for you. The present Government is guilty of a gross dereliction of its duty to you. You have made your wishes clear. You do not want to have your sovereignty shared by Spain.
It is shameful that this Government has shown such contempt for your democratic rights that it is prepared to ignore your views and make an agreement to share sovereignty with Spain. I know that you will reject this and I condemn the Government for risking worse relations with Spain by proceeding irresponsibly with its current negotiations nonetheless.
Gibraltar has always been loyal to Britain. I assure you that that loyalty is reciprocated by the majority of British people and by MPs of all parties, whatever the Government’s current behaviour.
I oppose the Government’s arrogance in caring more for its control over the Rock’s military facilities than for your rights. Gibraltar is and will continue to be a vital base for Britain’s armed forces but the Gibraltarians must also continue to be valued British citizens. To prize the former above the latter shows a callous disregard for a people’s rights.
I wish to reassure you that an incoming Conservative government would not feel bound in any way or to any extent by an agreement relating in any way to the surrender of sovereignty without the full, free and democratic consent of the people of Gibraltar.
In government, we would regard any joint declaration of principles agreed by Britain and Spain which had been rejected by you as null and void. We would not use such an agreement as the basis for any future talks.
I admire your determination to resist the bullying that you have been subject to. You will always have the support of the Conservative Party in your resolution to keep your British sovereignty.

Rt. Hon. Michael Ancram QC MP,
Shadow Foreign Secretary

Muts .... re your request for E-pix of Corps Crest, have a look @ www.bluebandmag.demon.co.uk (under The Corps Crest & Colours) there is a very clear illustration, capable of enlargement & by moving the cursor over the various components,an explanation as to their history & relevance is shown in a small dialogue box, ... I don't know if this feature would transfer to another "use" of the illustration, but I bet there are people here, more computer literate than me,who could advise.

Meanwhile,I have several other examples of the full Corps Crest,in both colour & monochrome, which I can E-mail to you, rather than taking up space here, just let me know.
Yes,I admit it,I am a sad,Corps pissed,pussers bastard !,but every now & then it comes in handy ! :-?

Cheers,

Mutley ....re my last,I have just remembered, when I was last in Gib,there was a small square or pizza, halfway up the Main Street ,on the right (with Govs Residence to your back) which had a series of Regimental badges in mosaic on the floor, all units having had a connection with The Rock .... ours being the largest, .... admittedly, this was over thirty years ago,so it may not still exist, but if it does,it could prove to be of some use.

Cheers

Thanks for the vote of confidence,"Boots",I stand corrected & its a real pleasure to be in such august company .... but I'm still Corps pissed!
My daughter is married to the Head Chef @ Eton College & he is a regular member of the England Culinary Team, often competing alongside members of the Tri-Service Team,my daughter always makes a bee line for the RM Team, who regard her as "family",(some were even at the wedding) she being fluent in "Green speak".... if the kids have picked it up,what can I say ?l

Cheers for now,
