owdun......there was a difference in the basic pay scales that was almost 50% specialist pay like jump money was a bonus and was paid at the same rate as the regulars. I would think the same thing applied to the RM.


In the early fifties the wages of a two-year National Serviceman were 28/- per week (£1.40) and a three-year man received 45/- per week (£2.25). We were paid in Sterling. Decimal currency didn’t arrive until 1971.

I agree The Money Isent Enough For What They Do,But I Also Think That Anybody In The Armed Forces Shouldernt Have To Pay Tax

i dont think any of the services should, no matter what rank,because don't you have to start at the bottom anyway? and rise through the ranks??i could be wrong, just an opinion =)

Yeh all generals start at the bottom, admirals tend to stay there :o :lol:
