SB, the thing is he c***d up very publicly on not one, but two, websites.
And if it took someone to make him see 'some' light and make him apologize because his head's so far up where the sun don't shine that he can't see it for himself, well...
Also, if it was just a few statements made within a short time, say, one day on one thread, it wouldn't be as big a deal.
But this was a concerted effort to take the pi$$ in the most offensive and moronic way. Plenty of time to think about it and decide how to use his energies.
That shows some pretty serious flaw in judgement and character, at least for me, especially at 22.

But whatever happens, no skin off my teeth...

Let Lympstone sort him out!

Would'nt that be enough punishment/rehabilitation?

Actually, he's not 22; he's JUST turned 20, and a good kid.
I never read what he wrote. He is the kid the army wants to turn into a leader, and if this is a measure, to own his error, to learn from it, to be humble and apologise for it, I think they are picking well.
As to what he did, he fluffed up.
He was told he had done so by those who know that he might have to face a sh*t storm and those he fluffed up to could be the only peeps he had to turn to and he said sorry.
I say half-hang him, half-hang everyone who has ever screwed up and had to say sorry, then disembowel their twitching remains and feed them while still attached to the dog to finish them off...
Or am I also over reacting....

BBC. On this occasion I will agree with you, the young man has stood his ground and said sorry for his remarks, now he could have just cleared off and said nothing, like you I credit is due for him saying that he was wrong.

He apologised simply because he knew, that he had insulted people who could have a direct influence on his chosen career. Not a very clever thing to do, and showing a lack of common sense that bodes ill for his prospects.

Unless of course he has learned from it, which I think he has, and which by apologising shows he is, as many are, still grasping the finer points of life.

This guy Ant in his write up states he is a RM Cadets Instructor in the North West Area somewhere and says that he is sorry for what he has done and apologised for being a prat or whatever.

I will sit on the fence with this one and leave it to those he has insulted the most to throw the dice as I have not seen everything he has done.

But a couple of points here. If he is 18 as he would have to be to be a Cadet Instructor with the Marine Cadets you can nod your head and say don't do it again. He is still young and has a bit to go to grow up, I suppose I agree with that, I think.

But if he is 22 as I have seen stated we have a much more serious situation, at this age he is an Adult member of the Marine Cadet Detchments of the Sea Cadet Corps and as such will hold the rank of Sgt(SCC) and can use the facilities of the Sgts Mess/WOs & CPOs Mess should he attended any training courses in any RM/RN facility.

So you could be standing next to him sooner than you think. but worse still is that if your son/grandson,daughter/grandaughter is a Marine Cadet in his Unit do you want Ant to be the person training him and having a fair bit of influence on their cadet life.

Ant may have come to realise that he did wrong for many reasons, one of those might be that he bragged to someone about what he had done and they advised him to back off and get out of the fire storm that was heading his way. I don't suppose we will ever know, or will we!

As I said I will leave it up to others to stand in judgement but my base line here is that if it turns out he is an Adult Instructor of the Marine Cadets Section he deserves everything he gets and as such does not deserve to wear any cap badge worn by members of the forum.

Dolly

PS Ant in case you are wondering how I know so much abouth the MCD please feel free to mention my name around your unit, you might find someone that knows me, if not ask your MCASO.

I have seen no evidence that he is the devil incarnate, perhaps some ill chosen comments have been made, but I don't see how his immaturity outranks that of anyone who has threatened to go out of their way to try and ruin his chance of a career in the forces.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

He had the balls to apologise, even if he had to be prodded by someone; Those who have threatened him don't seem to be able to admit their over-reaction.

I doubt he needs any help in doing that from any member of this forum, people here encourage people to join, and help them in any way they can to reach their goal, thats why on this site, abuse is kept to a minimum, as there are young people on this site, who`s aim for the future is to join the British Forces, whichever branch it is. can you imagine in future years, someone off this site is in the troop of this, "Fine Upcoming Officer" (tongue in cheek) who knows of his abusive posts on this site, i`ll wager now that the word would get round, and that any respect that they had for the guy, would dissapeer in seconds, Respect is not given out on a signature at the G10 store, Respect is earnt, and in my books, this guy ain`t going to get too much of that. I think the best thing that ant can do, is find another career.

Bootneck's point to the future when Ant is a fine young officer and the disresepect he may recieve makes sense and I think many of us have been witness to such instances in our service careers, but I would like to bring it a bit closer to home and into the next couple of years when going through trianing he meets up with someone in his own troop or platoon who finds out that he is Ant of ARRSE and the next thing you know they are sharing diferences,

This is not good a good thing in a troop full of people who starting to get corp pissed or regimentaly proud, and as was pointed out out it will turn up later on in his career, primeval blackmail maybe but someone will use it against him to bring and create disrespect.

Your past always catches up you, trust me I'm an expert in that subject. Coming down in the train from London the other night I got the old 'Do you rememeber when you did such and such when you were in 45 in 1967' now thats only 37 years so at those odds what chance does Ant have?

Ant made his move and probably did not realise that he was going to get zapped as he has done from people in this forum. After his apology which was given after someone advised him to do so some in here are for and some against, but that is how it falls in this day and age, you take your chance and make your move, but if it goes t**s up you get as far away from the incoming as possible.

I hear the Tibetan army is looking for some good men.

Just a wild guess here.........antphilip = Anthony Philip(s)?

I think most adults on this forum can take a bit of piss take and the odd cheap shot, but never a personal attack...........

As for wrecking his career, hes got more chance of winning a few thousand quid on the lottery than making it in the RM as a Officer.

I am 16 and about to join the RN and i know never to insult someone like that. What he did was wrong, immature and thoughtless and i say he deserves everything he gets.

Everyone knows you Dolly

It's clear that whatever everyone's differing opinions are this matter is closed. AntPhilip has agreed to cease posting here and so those who have been offended need not be any longer and those who would want him to have a second chance may be happy in the knowledge that this is the case.
