what about every man jack marching on CTCRM and showing their support for dutchy? get the press and tv involved again big time, this would certainly put the system on the spot, even if they still opened the new venture and kept dutchy on site, surely the guy`s buying their scran off dutchy would surely show them where their loyalty lies? all we need is a date, so we can all march on CTCRM. Are we up for it? all in favour say "AYE!!" :drinking:

Dear Royals,

Situation update for the SOD campaign:-

Ten weeks ago when I found out about the intention to remove Dutchy’s from CTC, we got together with a few good friends to discuss what if anything we could do to fight this. I must admit that at that time the situation appeared grim, we are after all just a small family business, and being up against a large multi-national with Whitehall backing seemed like a lost cause.

However 23 years of hanging out with “Bootneck’s” has given me a rather thick skin that is nicely complimented with a rather “Hoofin” stubborn streak! If I lacked the “time to kick ass and chew bubble gum ………and I’m all out of bubble gum” attitude of my mates, then no matter as they have it in spades.

Our plan at the beginning was simple, inform the lads of what was going on and see if we could rally support so that we could then make some sort of protest. I was quietly confident that we would get that support.

I wasn’t prepared though for how much effort the lads would put in on my behalf, and to all of them I am truly thankful.

The petition was started approximately 7 weeks ago, and so far we have 1500 names confirmed. But we are confident that there are at least another 1000 about to come in (apparently the petition at 40 Cdo is huge!) and most of the pubs and clubs in Exmouth have them up. We are now starting to receive them through the post every few days, ranging in size from a few names to a couple of hundred.

Yesterday I received another from 539 ASRM with this note:-

“Please find enclosed 52 signatures from all ranks at 539 ASRM to help in your fight against terrorism (set of bastards), just to let you know that EVERY SINGLE RANK that is not away on command courses etc. has put his name to paper to support your campaign to keep the best scran outlet in NATO at CTCRM.”

As I said “above and beyond”……………….Quality work.

As for other things that have happened, due to all the talk on the various web sites (in particular http://www.onceamarinealwaysamarine.co.uk/ ) and the large number of visitors that our site has had (5000 in 5 weeks) The local paper “Exmouth Journal” ran a story which The Daily Mirror picked up and did on the 30th Aug, this was then followed by an excellent full page article in the western morning news (all of these items can be viewed on the http://www.savedutchy.co.uk/press.htm page of the web site) I was also asked to do a live on air interview with British Forces Radio 2 broadcasting to Afghanistan and Iraq amongst others.

All of this is helping to spread the word.

As for our continuing strategy:-

We are still trying to get hold of Sir Jimmy Savile
Any info on what has happened to the other independent business’s at bases where PAYD has already been initiated. In particular there contractual duty to cover the same hours as the premises they are replacing. (word has it that once there in they are reviewing services after a few months and declaring it unprofitable to stay open after 2300 hrs)
Initiating dialogue with local MP
And of course collecting more signatures

Any information on the above or other suggestions is greatly appreciated. Once again thanks to all for your support.

Regards
