Dave, the pictures Chester (and the crying one i posted) posted are only in that size. If you right click on the image and go to properties and it gives you the URL of which it came so i was able to find the crying one.

If you have photo manipulation software you could Right click > save. Then you could increase the size.

Not sure about that. I left 6 years ago on just under 13k. You can bump it up with para pay, divers pay and SF pay but 23k sounds great - think I'll rejoin :o When I left the Brig was 'only' on about 50k and that's some serious and sustained brown-nosing to get there (number of honourable exceptions to that of course).
According to the RM website Arameis is correct (see http://www.royal-marines.mod.uk/static/pages/2697.html ).

I think the MoD completed a review of the payscales of the Forces quite recently as they had a poor retention rate at the Corporal level. As a result of this the pay at all ranks increased quite a bit.

It is indeed true that I was born at night, but not last night. I'll hazard a guess that marines on 23k aren't exactly crawling out of the woodwork - they'll be SB on SF pay at the very least. A graph wouldn't exactly be a 'normal distribution'. Thanks for the link - very interesting. I think what I'm getting at is that money for me was a complete irrelevance (and I can't imagine lads go SB for the money).

If I was you I'd work on the assumption that as a marine you'll be on or about 13k. I've sat though presentations by matelots explaining what marines should be paid where the Adjutant (fair play to him) stood up and asked why a Royal Marine Commando at the rank of Marine with two or three kids is living below the poverty line and is dependent on state aid to make ends meet. That was when the MOD introduced a similar review of payscales and we had to sit through a load of old b*****ks until the good captain said his bit. The link doesn't suggest to me that it's gone up much.

It's all a long, long way from that first flush of pride whan you march off the drill square but bootnecks do have to live in the real world (sometimes  ).

All the best and good luck.
