I'm physically pretty strong, but would just like abit of toning.

Rang my recruiter and he's expecting me, let's hope today is the day I can start my application!

I got myself a application! But he reckons at my age I should join the TA and he got a TA recruiter down to speak to me. What the TA guy said was interesting but I have my heart set on regulars, but àm I to old? I might be under 33 but I'm confused what to do now..

Don't let anyone decide your future for you, if you want regulars go for regulars, providing your below the maximum age nobody can stop you.

Yeah you're right, it's what i want to and been training for all these months. Just going to fill out application and pick some job choices and lose the 2kg.

Who did you put down as you're referees? I know no one in a high position or of authority if that's what you're supposed to put..?

Your Doctor can do one but you usually have to pay them, Pub Landlords can claim you worked for them, Sports Managers, Old Employers, Teachers in School, you can request a form from you careers advisers which lists all the acceptable references you can use.

Swimming one of the best Sports to do, if your goal is weight loss, it's low impact so very little chance of injuring yourself, and it works every muscle group in the body so it's considered one of the best, to put things in perspective 30mins of Breast Stroke at a normal casual pace is 700+ calories burned, I include swimming in my daily fitness plan, my fitness plan if I haven't mentioned it already is:

Warm up -

Stretches
Slow run to Gym

Workout -

1.5Mile best effort Treadmill run
3Mile Static bike best effort high resistance level
1 Hour weight lifting or resistance machines 5 sets of 10 on each machine and there's 11 machines, or a mixture of loose weights in 5 sets of 10 ranging in weight
1Mile Swim

Cooldown -

Dynamic stretches
Slow walk home

I've cut back allot on my calorie intake, but that's not to important since I burn more calories than I intake anyway, it works for me so maybe something to consider for yourself?

I didn't like Gyms at first but I've really started enjoying it now, once you get to know people there and everything it's great, and I've met a few other people wanting to join the Army, at all different levels of fitness and ages.

An before your run make sure you haven't eaten anything for atleast 2 hours before starting as that can often slow you down, and make sure you have had plenty of water, take sips throughout the day rather then downing pints before hand as again that can also bloat you.

I have been feeling bloated today to be honest. Just have to move on and train normally and hope for a decent time next week.

Just keep at it and your time will go down eventually, your still very early on in the application process so you've got a while to get the time down anyway.

I've just been swimming this morning, enjoyed it, but I had a look at my overall fitness programme when I got home.

Its like this at the minute

Mon - British Military Fitness Session

Tues -

Wed - BMF

Thurs - 3mile 1.5 mile best effort

Fri - Swim

Saturday BMF

Sunday - Usually go on a 3/4 run and take my dog.

I was wanting to add some fartlek/interval training but dont want to over do it. LOL

Unless I do two things in the same day, what do you think?

It is odd on just how things have changed, when we were young we just went out and ran the times and thought nothing of it, now every one is talking about gyms and food supplements and working up to getting the times that they require, so much for progress

I've had alot of progess 4st loss, knocked minutes of my run time.. purely from just going out and running.
