Obviously this thread is in the wrong area. It should be in the Royal Marines forum!
As has already been mentioned, it is difficult to single out 'the best'. All of our line Regiments have an excellent pedigree, otherwise they would have folded long ago.
The Rifles stem from the Light Division which has an awesome history.
The Rifles now form part of 3 Commando Brigade, so the tradition continues.
Choose where you want to go and be the best you can.

Adam you are WRONG!
Paras would merely run and get their kit and run back!
Paras don't need houses, they would gut a camel and sleep inside it... or slit their self and curl up inside.
but no in serious talk you're right, Paras wouldn't have gone for so long if other parts of the military didn't help them, and vies versa..

If i had the choice I'd go for Royal Marines, as I've always felt that Para's have ego's the size of everest and think they're ten men, sorry for the stereotype

My plan is to get into the RE to give me a broad scope job wise then do the AACC to become a commando engineer, could do the p coy and become a para engineer, but don't think i'd be fit enough to carry that ego around all the time

The thing is i believe is that some people, not all, some, want to go into the "Para's" just for the status of it, so they can go round saying 'i'm a para i am, don't f*ck with me, i'm hard' and no doubt they'll have the wings tattooed somewhere.
But yes the army is one elite force, one reg would struggle without the other.
If you want to be the very best then go for special forces.!

If you are referring to 59 Indep Commando Squadron RE (now 24 Commando RE and Regiment strength) then they are Royal Engineers who have passed the AACC and Airborne forces have the equivalant unit called 9 Para Squadron RE.
So as a Royal Engineer you can do AACC and be a commando or PCoy plus Jumps and be a Para trained rank.
If however you mean Assault Engineers then both Commando and Airborne forces have those too.
Maybe advice that is accurate is the easy way?
